think some bike frames make it easier to do this than others...like having a shorter top tube can't seem to do this on my current bikes din eh...pero si maxbuwaya, kaya niya sa giant hardtail nya

actually bihira ko sya magawa, there are times mahaba ang wheelie there are times maigsi, i really cant do it as long as i wanted too. but some guys can really do it as long as they want! ivce been doing this wheelie for years and ganoon pa din ako walang improvements hehehehe
siguro mas maganda masmababa upuan mo sa seatpost and wag ka magcliclip, try mo sanayin na walang pedal power to pull the front wheel, para masanay ka na kahit mabilis ka, kaya mo iexecute ang wheelie, (mas madali kasi ibalance pagmabilis

try mo sanayin na walang pedal power to pull the front wheel my friend said and as I've tried mas maganda sanayin ang pedal power, the trick to it is making your front wheel leap higher... ;D

hei Max pareho tayo...i've been doing wheelies din for years but hadn't perfected it...sa bmx ko dati i can do it for 100 meters pero mabilis ang takbo...this is not a good technique. Sa mtb I've tried but the most I've done is 10 meters at dehins pa palagi ganun. A good technique is use pedal power, balance, and braking. Dapat go slow and controlled Let your sweet foot pedal the front up, then counter-balance the side to side shift with your legs and kness...if falling to the right try to point your knees to the left, then if your falling back feather the rear brakes...modulate and not full-brake, if you fall forward just pedal some more ;D Btw, wala ba dito mahilig sa trials??? Share naman tayo techniques

Kona, Hmmmm....i haven't seen really video clips where they show how to start a wheelie....mostly naka-position na and moving. Pero madali lang ang pag-start ng wheelie, its maintaining the front up that's hard. To start a wheelie, do a pedal kick with your choco foot at the same time pulling on the handle bars and leaning back. These should all happen in about one second

The video on trials-online is a manual, not a wheelie. To do a manual, you just shift your center of gravity back behind the rear hub and your front should lift up. You keep your over the rear wheel over the duration. You don't pedal during a manual. For a wheelie, you use a pedal stroke to lift the front up and keep pedaling while seated. Again you have to keep your center of gravity over the rear hub. Having a small frame or short top tube/stem makes both manuals and wheelies easier. I used to be able to wheelie on my BMX, but can't get my butt back far enough on my MTB. Even roadies can wheelie: www.abbiorca.com/bike/road/road2002/sfgrandprix-9-15-02/image/IMG_5942.jpgforums.roadbikereview.com/showthread.php?t=6802

Mmmmm choco foot! I love choco stuff but not a foot dehins ba maalat? pag may kuko? bwaaahahahahaha ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D Btw...before you start to try wheelies...practice ka muna pasobrahan ang wheelie mo to the point na babagsak na fuwet sa likod...dapat you will be able to land your feet on the ground before you fall...this way alam mo kung ano gagawin kung sakali sumobra...which palaging mangyayari pag bago ka lang nag-papraktis ;D Atsaka...it is a mortal sin using clipless pedals when doing wheelies ;D ;D ;D

i used to know a guy who does wheelies a lot... Road or BMX, kaya niya he does a lot of wheelies... sa BMX nya wala pang gulong at pa ikot ikot pa sa village namin... Well, he was a fine rider himself and he belongs to a certain group in Cebu but I forgot the name of the team already... I even remember the time na uso pa yong motocross bikes (im not sure if motcross ba talaga yon) basta yon na... back to what I was telling you, may siren pa ang bike nya at pinapatunog kung nag wheelie siya... He wasn't scared to ruin his bike afterall coz their family owns a bicycle shop...

here's my tip! if you can afford a cheap "easyrider", buy it. i tried doing wheelies on my mtb, and it seems its a lot (i mean A LOT) easier to do it on an easyrider. 2nd tip, if you try pulling the bars (takeoff) lifting the front wheel, dont be afraid that you'll fall backwards. magugulat ka na lng na automatic na maglanding ka unhurt (its true, not kidding). to prevent overlifting the front, hit the rear brakes gently. tantyahin mo lang kasi pag sinagad mo, hihinto ka. and again (the usual), practice dude. AND WEAR A HELMET

to practice wheelies try it in a slow speed to get the balance of your bike!!!!
here's a tip from the master HANS REY!!!!!
How to Do a Wheelie on a Bike
"Generally speaking, this is one of the most time-consuming and difficult moves out there," says Hans. "Some guys, even in the World Cup race, cannot ride a good wheelie. But you'll see kids riding them because they put the time into it."
Steps: 1. Adjust your seat to a low position. You'll ride the wheelie sitting down, and seat position will help keep your center of gravity and balance.
2. Put the bike into a medium or low gear and begin at rolling speed.
3. Crouch your upper body so your weight is over the handlebars.
4. Turn the cranks to the 11:00 position.
5. Pedal down and pull up on the handlebars simultaneously.
6. Immediately lean back - as if you were in a rocking chair - and continue pedaling. You need to trust your rear brake, otherwise you'll flip over backward.
7. Outstretch your arms and sit on the tip of the seat.
8. Keep one finger on the rear brake while the others firmly hold the grip.
9. Feather the brake continually - this helps to control speed and can prevent you from falling on your butt.
10. Relax. The front tire should be pretty high in the air.
11. Begin controlling the two balances: vertical and sideways.
12. Adjust the vertical balance with the rear brake (if leaning too far back) or by pedaling (if your front wheel begins to drop).
13. Fight the sideways balance early; it's impossible to recover if you wait too long.
14. Control the sideways balance by sticking out a knee or foot, or by turning the handlebars in the opposite direction. (Just make sure the handlebars are straight before you come down.)
15. Let the front wheel drop to come out of the move.
Tips:
All these intricate and slight movements happen at once, which is why this is a difficult trick.
"I hate riding wheelies clipped into the pedals," notes Hans. Ride it flat.
For beginners, try riding slightly uphill. Also, practice hopping off the back for practice - so you'll be able to in a pinch.
There's no such thing as perfect balance - you will always be plus or minus your balance point. It will slowly become easier to correct.
Warnings:
Don't keep your weight over the handlebars once the front tire is in the air.
Don't try to pedal too fast or your speed will become uncontrollable.

pulling up and control your balance, if it goes too much backward, lightly pull the brake rear brake then pedal a little just incase you go back... if you can control your brakes, you wont full backwards

i find it harder to pop a wheelie when my seat's too low ..

it depends on a person on how low or high your seat is!!!! on my street bike my seat are low but on my FS bike my seat are high!!!!!!
its on how you start the pedal and jerking your wheel up!!!!! and finding your center of gravity!!!!!

well i know some poeple that can pop up a wheelie with a really low seatpost set up (joey ailen_scream) but i know people as well who can do with a seatpost as high as an XC rider set up his own seatpost (my cousin).
but guys, i do believe there are just 3 factors when you pop up a wheelie:
1. depends as how high you can manual 2. depends on how long you can balance and extend your centre of gravity (at the same time strategic pedalling) 3. how effectively you can use your rear brakes
combine all of those things, and no matter what your set up is, you can pop your own wheelie as well (though i can't pop one ;D)
