..... when something goes wrong with your ride, you got lost or got injured, and you or your group is miles away from the nearest available help or civilization. It could easily happen to anyone of us, and of course, it had already happened to plenty. In this situation, the important question is: what do you do now? Share us your thoughts and experience.

Stop for a while gather your thought and presence of mine. Get into a wide open space that a hiker/biker can easy to be seen. Then its time to apply those you learn when your were a boys scout and on survival training (Mcgyver) .

first of course is to assess the situation... is it critical to look for help? are we gonna starve? for how long can we take it? then look at your 'tools'--options to help on handling the situation... like when you're injured yet you can manage to heal yourself or a compadre knows first aid, it helps... or how about computing your food allocation or scheduling turns on scouting in case help cannot be there immediately improvise when there's lack in resources

Stay where you are. Unless there is an immediate danger don't go wandering all over the place hoping you will find your way back. Staying in place would upped your chances being found by your buddies.

No injuries I've been stuck in the middle of a cocnut plantaion , 20k from the nearest road , at a dark 530pm w/ a broken drailleur ,no signal , no tools and the p[lace was a known tapunan ng patay and bandido country ( wont tell where baka wala na bumisita hehe ) Tumawa nalang ako kasi if I didnt , baka ma unahan ng panic I sat down and thought about it for 5 min , and nung clear ng ang utak , I just decided to start running and pushing the bike. Who dares wins , kasi after about 5 or 7km I ran into a tricycle who agreed to give me a lift for 200p haha Nagka signal , nagpakaon ako and by the time I reached the road nandun na yung kaon ko. Was back in my house by 7pm Best of all, I found out I could run 5k, sumali nako sa triathlon

on a "very" serious note:
sometime last month before the all health races, we (ronald, drew and me riding together with 2 other PinoyMTBiker'ers) did a recon of the race track. while at the roxas trail, the rig of drew conked-out and good that freeman was in the area also. since nobody had any tools to fix the problem, we had to turn back to the roxas trailhead and hope that some bikers with tools were around. luckily some DH dudes were around at the trailhead.
i saw how freeman did trailside repairs of drew's bike using tools and what not. he was even tightening the headset of drew using a broken tree branch and some stones plucked from the road.
which made us think:
1. Will the PinoyMTBiker be generous enough to us Newbies in conducting clinics on basic emergency bike repairs, perhaps even basic trail riding techniques.
2. Freeman was amenable to this idea, perhaps its just a matter of having this organized.
3. UP will be a good venue.
Dumadami ang newbie and i believe a lot of newbies would like to learn this basic knowledge.
@mods : Can we organize this kind of clinic?
thanks!

always carry your most memorized prayer.. ;D ;D ;D hahahaha i remember when we got stuck in one of the caves in Mt. Banahaw, i suddenly remembered all the prayers that we're taught to me since i was i was young. Honestly i think that being prepared would be the the best survival tool of all time. having the right stuff in your pack and learning to improvise.
