These primarily downhill- and enduro-focused mountain bike trails can be found in San Mateo, Rizal, on a mountain adjacent to Shotgun Road. The trails are being maintained by the Batang Patiis mtb team. Shuttle: Riders are typically shuttled via motorbikes (they are towed using a rope tied to the stem). The shuttles start at Edong's Tapsilogan (https://goo.gl/maps/E9fPfBmGwJ62 --google maps link) and are ₱100 per run. For instance, if you want to do 2 runs down the mountain, then that's ₱200 in all. Fee: There is a ₱40 fee paid at the store near the top of the mountain and it is used for trail maintenance. You only need to pay ₱40 per day of riding. Lines (as of Dec 2017): - Rehab Line (Blue-level flow trail)
- Bogart (Blue, scenic trail)
- Chino's Line (Blue)
- Virgo (Blue)
- Virgo - Rampage (Black Diamond)
- Virgo - Bypass (Black)
- G1 (Double Black, experts only)
- Richard's Drop (Double Black, experts only)
- Highway (Black Diamond)
Safety: Full-face helmets are highly recommended along with knee pads and thick mtb gloves. Many riders typically ride wearing the above along with roost guards, body armor, neck braces, and shin guards. See you at the trails!

I have to say action cam footages do not show the real depth and reduces/eliminates trail features.

For starters, which trail to begin with? I have to say action cam footages do not show the real depth and reduces/eliminates trail features. Bogart to Virgo Bypass would be the best one to pop your cherry. Next would be the Rehab line to Virgo Bypass. Bogart and Rehab are flow trails with mostly berms and switchbacks. Rehab has 2 small 3-foot jumps after the second berm but these are safe (puwedeng sagasa lang). Bogart, Rehab, and Virgo are all Enduro lines. After Virgo Bypass, you can exit to the steep Caimito exit or take the easier diaper lane on the left (brings you to the cemented walking path of the village). If you're up for a very long rock garden, take Chino's Line which brings you to the very rocky Highway. Don't do it alone, though, as it's very challenging for new visitors, even for experienced DH riders. If you've done 5 foot drops and above before, then try out Richard's Drop (aka G2). The G1 line is the most difficult one as it is approximately a 15-foot drop then a 5-foot race jump follows immediately after.

SS 1 will be Bogart to Virgo (not sure if they'll use Rampage) SS 2 will be half of G1 to Old Line (original Dakdak DH line) to Chinos Line to Highway SS 3 will be Richard's Drop to Rehab to Virgo Bypass
There will be option lines available for those not doing jumps/drops over 2 feet. Biggest drop in the race is about 6ft with a mini road gap (Richard's Drop).
I will be at the tracks from Wednesday to Saturday so if you need a guide, let me know. I suggest not going Saturday as Patiis will be filled with over a hundred riders practicing.

verblkint , which among the lines in patiis is comparable to the timberland black diamond? None, unfortunately, since there are no trails in Patiis that have a 17% uphill grade within the lines itself. Doing a backtrack is just too dangerous. In terms of downhill gradients, all the lines are steeper than Black, both in terms of grade percentage and total masl's descended. Steepest ones would be Virgo Rampage, Chino's Line, and the Caimito Exit.

Here are a couple of photos of some of the features along the Patiis DH line: This is a photo of the G1 road gap, it's essentially a 15 foot drop but you need to have good speed to hit the landing right. Rider's name is Chino Galpo. After which, it then brings you to the G1 Race Jump, it starts out as a 4 foot drop but can easily go as high as about 11 feet depending on how fast you go. The sweet spot is about an 8 foot drop then you pump it as soon as you hit the landing to gain more speed. Note that it's a flat turn later on going to the Fire Road (beginning of the Old DH Line). Rider here is Gelo Iballa (yup, Joy's kid).

verblkint, i'm guessing FS is already mandatory for these drops? Not really. A lot of dirt jumpers (yes, on hardtail dj bikes) are skilled enough to land smoothly on the receivers using pure technique alone. Novice jumpers would definitely need suspension for insurance, tho.

Registration starts April 1. Early birds will only need to pay ₱1,300 instead of the regular ₱1,500 registration fee. Registration is now open! Early birds can go to the Batang Patiis FB page to get full details. www.facebook.com/BatangPatiis/Erratum on the early bird promo as it's actually ₱1,200 and not ₱1,300.
