Planning to buy a roadbike, but no idea at all. Someone is selling me his bike, good condition, well-maintained (don't know how long he's been using it, though), and he races with it (small-time lang naman). Asking price is P35k. Specs: Specialized frame, size52 (Allez limited edition) sl pedal (?) Gruppo 105 10spd Wheelset GTS carbon fork Cinelli handlebar and seatpost with Cat-eye enduro8 cyclocomp
What are the questions I should ask? How low should I tawad without sounding insulting? Help!=)

If it's a 105 group set with the cranks and the frame is orig, 35k I think is good enough. Maybe if you show the buyer the money, he can bring it down to 30.

What I meant was, tell him you have only 30k with you. Never haggle unless you're sure to buy it AND you've seen it IRL.

Last time I checked the 105 group set is at 20k. If the 52 frame is your size then I guess it's an okay deal. I wouldn't really say it's a good deal. Personally I'd buy it for 28k tops - depending on how "used" it is. Ride it and check out the frame. Decide from there. HTH.

brad, what's the paint on the Spez frame? if it's the black and white, something like zebra. i think that's a knock off. it was selling like hot cakes before in our area 5K for the frame, fork headset and stem.

P35 is ok, but just recently you could get a Merida with full 105 gruppo with a compact crank, carbon fork, Shimano R500 wheelset, for around the same price brand new. a newer model is available now with Ultegra for around P40k+.

yup king is right, 105 groupset fares around 24k SRP (without the massive discount).

Thanks for the inputs guys. Paint is red/white. Ok ba yun? Have tried it on for size. Fits quite well, though it was just a few seconds around a rotunda. The usual computation for frame size (inseam * 0.65) told me my frame should be 53.3, so I guess a size 52 should be acceptable enough.

Allez Specialized limited edition... red/white. And been to cycle art yesterday, guess what, 105 gruppo is just 18.5k Specialized Allez has a nice review over at CyclingPlus magazine (May 2007 Issue) edged by Trek SL1000 (for bikes costing below or a little over 500 UK pounds). To quote the magazine on its verdict "...The Allez is a compelling purchase purely in terms of performance and feels like it should cost a grand, but it's hard to ignore Trek's inclusion of mudguard and rack eyes. These make the Trek a very versatile bike, a quality that can't be ignored if the bike is to be used year-round for different types of riding. On this basis it's very hard to see a clear winner; if you are racing, the upgrade path on the Allez wins, and if versatility is your bag, go buy the Trek...". The Allez tested was fitted with Shimano Sora/Tiagra parts. Just sharing. ;D ;D

105 group set today is P17,000 without hubs. R550 is about P5,000. frame is P6000 cheapest.. goma interior handlebar seatpost stem saddle... If the frame is true specialized its a good deal... True Specialized alloy frame will cost about P15,000 above

Looking at a different prospect... What do you think about Specialized zebra (restickered) frame (size 53, fits better), 105 gruppo, carbon fork, tapos may aero bar at cyclocomp na. Although 8sp lang.. diba ang 105 dapat 10sp? P20k ang offer.

105 group set today is P17,000 without hubs.... Where do they sell 105 group at P17k? Try calling Kings at Quiapo. I read somewhere here in this forum that somebody sponsored somebody whose road bike got stolen and they were able to build a bike for 20K ++ with SORA groupset also at Kings. If you can still source out a Felt Aluminum Road frame that sells for Php3,000.00(brand new) and buy a carbon fork for something like Php2,500.00-3,000.00. Then a Shimano 105 groupset for something like 18K. Shimano WH-R561 wheelset for something like Php7,000.00 ++. You still have something like Php4,000.00 for the other accessories. A Sintesi frame that cost something like Php12,000.00 (no fork yet) is not bad either. Just a suggestion. ;D ;D

I'm doing my friend a favor in scouting a bike for him thats quite affordable. His budget is more or less 15K. Thanks.

hi someone offer me a road bike
frame =gts pro m5 fork = kristel shift lever and break lever = alivio crankset= 105 braking system, hubs, bracket = deore derailleur = sora rims = gts m525 tires = continental
it's in very good condition and the owner seldom use it, and the price is only 10k, he show me the receipts of its parts amounting to 20k+ and it was assembled somewhere in quiapo, should i take it, i really have no idea on new bikes today and there prices, i own an old road bike parts from suntour, shimano with rims of campagnolo, and custom made frame set which my father gave to me but it's very hard to use, nakakainis pag liliko ka sasabit yung pedal sa gulong, kelangan pang nasa ayos yung paa mo bago ka lumiko

Ur all quoting orig SRP of 105. This one is used so you can knock off 30-50% off the price of groupset depending on the conditon upon actual inspection. IMO there are better bike deals from P35-P45 than this.
