hello ironhorse, I've got a Calfee Luna Pro frame and they warranty it for ten years, I believe the Tetra and the Dragon they warranty for an additional 5 or ten years, not sure. The best part is that the warranty is transferable, so if you were to find one on ebay or etc, you'll have that peace of mind. My Luna Pro is their entry level frame ($1695), but compared to other manufacturers' frame, I think, in my opinion, it's worth every penny. You could get more info at Calfeedesign.com And oh yeah, my frame is 4 years old and the ride quality, especially on climbs, is second to none. Good luck brad.

I have a 1992 Trek 2500 Pro (year prior to their release of the OCLV designs) and it's still in good shape. It gets little use since I now have a Merlin. If it's from one of the major manufacturers, then you should be fine, as long as it hasn't been damaged in a crash. CF manufacturing has come a long ways in recent years, but I would worry a bit if it's no name generic brand.

do a close inspection of the frame. if you don't see any cracks or damage to the clearcoat, you should be good to go. road bike frames don't go through the stresses of mountain bikes. i would hesitate to buy a used carbon mountain bike but would have no problem buying a used carbon roadie...
