oooh, dami mong na-hijack na thread.
anyway, saan mo ba gagamitin yung bike? trail ba? road rides ba? mix of both?
beweteen the two bikes, alin ang tama sa sukat mo? sa mtb kasi mas tolerant kahit dehins sakto yung size. pero sa road bike, better get a proper bike fit kasi sasakit ang likod at batok mo kapag mali ang size.

If i were you, i'd choose the MTB over the roadbike. It's a decent bike to start with but be sure to not leave it under the rain as some of the parts (especially the drivetrain) are prone to rust. Be sure to properly maintain the parts and you'll be ok

bike adage: cheap, strong, light. pick two.

for starters i suggest a cheap'sh (beater) hardtail specially if you're planning on using it for commute.

trinx MTB for me. try mo nalang mag semi slick na tires para all around. or mag leo tire ka. sure na baka pang habambuhay na gulong mo na yun.. haha!

Well if you can't choose between the two you then go for a hybrid bike Cyclocross mixture of MTB and RB since may analysis of your roads condition this bike can surely fit you.
