actually, they silently never left the triggers with the XT, it's just that they market the DCLs more...
only XTR triggers are gone...
the triggers never left the product lineups at their site....I always checked.... ;D ;D ;D

Apparently, the new shifters can also be used "all thumbs" ala SRAM, as per this translation by babelfish.... ( 22.02.06/kg) Shimano has new Deore XT and Deore LX Rapidfire plus levers developed, which are based on proven technology, again however with the Two Way releases equipped is. The original Rapidfire plus system was introduced before 16 years during the introduction of the first XTR group. The new Rapidfires has now the innovative Two Way release technology. That means: the front "index finger lever" can be operated also by the thumb, which flows into the same switching action. Thus two switching options are available: on the one hand the conventional Push Pull principle of the Rapidfire system, on the other hand the option only with the thumb - Push Push! The Deore XT shift lever (SL-M760) has on the right of and on the left of optical course announcements and is compatible with all 9fach-Schaltwerken von Shimano. For optimal operability of the drive component Shimano recommends the courses SP41 equipped with sealed outer hulls. New Top normal switching devices For Deore XT and Deore LX are available Top normal switching devices (RD-M761 and RD-581), which gives it in two lengths. They have a stylisches Design, the extra broad support (wide left) for more rigidity and in the XT version additionally sealed kugellagerungen. The introduction of these supplementing products means a revaluation of Shimanos XT- and LX groups. The combination of larger options and improved achievement is to address many engaged Mountainbiker. Thus: we go selecting! Availability: starting from September 2006 (source: Shimano) I guess SRAM was doing something right for them to be copied

It's a thing the board does; there are words it doesn't like. Write "C-o-c-k-p-i-t" without the hyphens and it comes out "thingamajigpit". Might even do it with the hyphens, I dont know.
Makes me wonder what would happen if someone started a forum about rooster fighting...

A Shimano new product announcement wouldn't be complete without a new city bike group, so say hello to Alfine. It's eight speed using an internal hub, developed from their Nexus gear hub to be smoother and quieter. Up front there's a 39 or 45 tooth chainset with chainguard. There's an interesting component for the one-speed crowd, though - a neat-looking chain tensioner. Alivio/Deore Totally redesigned last year, Alivio gets a few enhancements. There's now a 48 tooth chainset, a new front derailleur, lighter bottom bracket, shifter and a mechanical disc brake. Deore also gets a couple of new chainsets with more ring choices, and a lower priced bottom bracket with Octalink interface.

is it me, or are some of these look better than the supposed new models of XTRs? It is just you. The LX "looks" still like an '05 except for the embossed logo. The new XTRs I believe are primarily made more to perform better not to look better.

Check out MTBaction's website (MBA tech) for the 2007 XTR. The XTR dual shifter design looks like Magura..
