shaft driven with an internal geared hub. question is how much tension can the shaft and gear take. and if it's readily servicable same principle as the AWD (All Wheel Drive) bike of Christini. now that's a climbing bike, he he he. www.christini.com/

I think I've seen one that before ( If I am not mistaken ), a neighbor of mine bought a second hand Japs bike in Pier, no chain and cogs but running but the settting is only 3 speed, guess they have the same principle???

wow! look at the pivot location. every time you hit a big bump the BB (along w/pedals and feet) will move with rear wheel... like the old URT designs. I'm sticking with my 4 bar linkage design for now.
shaft drive is an interesting concept... I wonder how well it works. I'd give it a test ride.

i wonder how long before fatigue sets in for the shaft and gears? that's very stressful for the materials used there.

chain and sprocket technology has been around over well over a century and none of the new technologies can surpass its efficiency. I read somewhere that current drivetrains, with gears, have an efficiency in the high 90's (SS must be close to 99%). I wonder how much energy is lost in this shaft drive system.
