i dunno the whole story but they (Ross) denied to replace a broken crank arm for warranty coz their mechanic installed the pedals wrong, and it caused loosethread after using it in trail for a day.... but case is already clear and my friend still paid for the replacement crank arm for their mech's mistake. im thinking about this the whole night. how can the guy put a pedal the wrong way??? it just wont go if its wrong. sorry for the ot

Same here. I panicked when I saw the title. And yes to all who know, John of Extreme services Rockshox.

Right! I think as much as possible try to buy from an authorized dealer.
In my case, boxxers were not yet available here (authorized local dealer) when I bought it. But still, eric (thru John Wilkie) replaced the entire lowers of my fork with no cash out. Eric just advised me that next time daw, I should buy from an authorized dealer... ;D

just a thought...how come when people buy from quiapo..and product fails...specialty shop come to the rescue? mababait kind hearted the people from specialty shops...but people some people just take advantage buy from quiapo..then ask help from specialty shops?
specialty shops maybe 100 pesos to 500pesos higher...because of variables...airconditioned place..warranty..good service...organizer of bike race..organise fellowship night...organize tours...donate to charity...help professional cyclists..plus plus factors...what about quiapo? do they have same kind of service ? No? then why support them? because of cheap price?
im sorry im sourgraping as i also own a bikeshop rockabikeshop...and people ask me why my price 100pesos higher than jane? but im 100kilometers away from quiapo..and the transportation cost to quaipo from baliwag is 150pesos...so does it not add up im cheaper still and i saved people time 5hours travel to quiapo?
hehehe..moral of story...cheap is not always cheap...go patronize your specialty shops please because its a give and take thing..if not for the specialty shops there will be no spare parts...so we have to buy from them once in a while to ensure they dont die out.as those guys have bills to pay also...pay rent..pay salary of good mechanics...etc.....otherwise you will be stuck with quiapo lass who will claim that there are no spareparts for rockshocks in entire philippines..

i just called extreme bicycle and ask if they have replacement parts for rockshox J4 and they told me it doesn't have any spare parts because its an OEM and its just an ordinary fork . So i guess I'm not gonna use my fork anymore... another bad luck for a biker on a tight budget.

I got this from the authorized local distributor himself. i hope everyone will now be aware of the importance of purchasing parts from authorized shops/dealers. the extra cost goes a very long way. believe me

Thank you for posting this Tofi...it's another leap towards consumer education.
Tune was in a similar situation like this. An internet reseller who preys on newbies (dont worry, not in our circle/forum nor island) refuses to believe that the brand is here and disparages other LBS-dealers as fake dealers/service center because they (like him) have the same M.O., i.e. simply asking someone from HK to buy products and handcarry them to 'Pinas. He goes on further by claiming that it is impossible to get spare parts because even HK doesnt have one.
Despite the advantage of superior margins because of the absence of shipping/taxes/overhead, buyers are even thankful to get items slightly below SRP.
Now, the same reseller is complaining (the items he himself sold) why his expensive aluminium/titanium hubs are corroding with less than a year of use.
Even KMC has not been spared. Fakes/over-runs are making a killing at the market.
Karma, I think, is such a great equalizer. Especially now with cyclists becoming increasingly prudent and wise.
@savers - I think this may be due to the fact that the supplier was not legit in the 1st place. She should have sourced from the authorized distributor. To be fair with her in this forum (although I don't know her and I've never been there), it wasn't her fault that she sold the item. Maybe she just mistook the supplier as the authorized distributor (honest mistake)
