Based from what I have read from the MTB magazine Trance is having lesser travel on the front and rear suspension compare to Reign. You can say Trance is for XC and Reign is for All Terrain riding.

go for trance if you dont want to lose a lot of your XC heritage. that would be doing a lot of pedalling efficiently. not that the reign isnt efficient. the latter's geometry is more inclined for bombing down trails.
here's a graph to tell a better picture:
applications: ------------------uphills------------------------------------downhills
anthem-----------X------------------------------------------------
trance------------------------------------X-------------------------
reign----------------------------------------------------------------X

I'd heed Jon's advice particularly if you're not a clydesdale, but to some it's a different twist... Giant Reign X0: Is this the XC rider's DH bike or the DH rider's XC bike?________________________________________________________________________________________________________Last Friday, that is, before weekend hits I've read an awesome review @ pinkbike[/color]. I decided to share with you all here... Timely, most likely for you as well, shiroutsuri. Excerpts " As it turns out, the answer to the question posed at the start of this review is "both". The X0 can be nearly anything you want it to be. As a rider that spends a lot of time on a DH bike, I can jump on the X0 and still keep up in gnarly terrain. But also as a rider who does a lot of "aggressive" XC riding, I can hop aboard the X0 and feel great about that 5 hour epic in the rain. What more can you ask from a bike?" Satiate your hunger. At the end, it still boils down if it's truly a perfect match for your trails and riding style. I'd say if you could 'demo' bikes then better 'cuz you'd narrow down the margin; coming up with the bike that best suits you! Break a leg!

But it is so unfair Onie. How long have we been riding together? 3 years. Yet to particularly nail down or catch the defining moment what really is the perfect match for our trails and riding style is very tricky indeed. Considering the thousand and one variety of trails PinoyMTBiker ride on, I find it elusive to narrow down whether my riding style is indeed XC or Trail. Honestly, I like to be both. Truth of the matter is, I still harbor to being XC. No wonder I didn't bring home Trek Fuel EX 9.5 after 'demo'ing it because it still felt more trailish to me than XC Fuel. Fuel is still Fuel. Fuel EX is still Fuel EX. So goes Anthem is still Anthem. Trance is still Trance. I don't think they haven't fined tuned it yet where twain shall meet between Anthem and Trance.?
Point I am trying to make is it is so unfair to new bikers to define who they really are? Anthem ba sila? Or Trance? If you and I after all these years of trailing and riding together question at times who we are between XC and Trail, sila pa?
So for some of us the solution is to collect stable of rigid, hardtail, single speed, full suspensions broken down to Anthem, Trance, Reign etc.
Common. Don't feed me this line. Some of us can't be all. Are you?

Have been meaning to comment....the review says it climbs well and also the HA is low enough to enjoy decending climbs. I'm thinking these 2 aspects are not congruent. Taking into consideration the weight factor how well does it REALLY climb compared to a Trance or something similar?

Zilch. That's why I think I haven't really outgrown my bike yet since I'm loving it!!! I may say, everything's relative. I'd surmise that the author means it climbs well for a 35ish lb. bike with 6.7" of (rear) travel. I don't think he meant it in the "it'll outclimb an Anthem or Trance" sort of way. On the other hand, the reigns climb great, but as you'd guess, extra weight is extra weight regardless how efficient a design is. My apologies but being (SOL*) gram- troll/ gram-goon might have somehow clouded my reasoning here! LoL!!! Cheers!!! * Reason for editing: SOL = Sadly Outta Luck (polite form)

I narrowed it down to my kind of riding. I used to ride a VT, Trek Liquid and AC. all 6+ travel bikes. the extra wight is punishing but you easily go ballistic downhill or on technical trail. Even pimped then with the lightest part for that kind of riding. But the trails are so diverse and my riding style now is more subdued, in english, I lost the edge and scared(may daga na) a little bit. Trance is only 4 travel but the frame is so rigid I can turn it really hard without a slight tinge of flex. Maybe its the fork, or maybe the wheels. But still, Its pimpable(my term) to a decent weight say like 13 kilos. If you want to do an all day marathon,XC, or jump around, My bet is Trance. Like what Rocky said, There is no specific bike for all the different trails we have.
