w/c is better? i know the bullit is a classic frame but the vpfree has VPP design. I can't afford to keep two frames, i need to dispose one! Bullit(2004) or VP-free(2005)?

if you're into DH......go for bullit and if your ride is all mountain and XC i'll choose VPfree..... it helps you push uphills

GBB, i hope i could keep both..if that happens malamang frame lang yung isa pang display sa wall kasi no more budget for other parts!
Rocketman, isn't yung vp-free similar to the bullit advantage lang is it has yung VPP technology w/c until now dehins ko gets?

VPP (virtual pivot point) according to ogie of pasig boys, helps you push the bike goin uphills..... he also owns VPFree i dunno what year model........ here's a better explanation... www.santacruzbikes.co.uk/vpp/if i were you....... i'll choose the VPP frame.......

If you could afford both bikes, you could afford to change pivots & links so I say go for the VP-Free.
The Bullit would be a lighter bike & very easy to maintain. The VP-Free may be a little heavier but it pedals way better than the Bullit. Plus you'll never feel any brake jack when you're riding DH.

Aidz thats very simple. Go for the santacruz bike! Better DH and uphill.

comfy ride - go for the vpfree or any vpp frame....
sturdiness and ease of maintenance - go for the bullit or any single pivot frame....

it all depends on the type of riding you do. hard choice since both bikes are very versatile. but if u ask me, id keep the VPFree, excellent in DH and freeride and the VPP will make it better than the Bullit for AM use.

Rocketman, i want too but i can't afford to keep two SC bikes. I hope yung VPP w/ the help of DHX will eliminate brake jack.. haven't assembled my vp-free yet(haven't decided what color to paint it?black or pearlized white?) pero based on my experience w/ the bullit it stil has brake jack even if you have a DHX shox.
OT: for sale Fox DHX 5.0(coil) 8.5i2i w/ 350pounds spring rate. PM me for those who are interested. ;D

unless we all ride like the top pro's, we won't feel brakejack!!!! i rode some bullits on a couple of races and i didn't feel it. the bikes i build for Joey B. has little or close to no brake jack. nothing that i could feel if it did have it. keep the VPP, sell bullit, get more parts Vpp really works, but if pedaled BMX style, like mashing it really hard on the downward pedal stroke, it still bobs a little, pedal properly and instant "no-bob"

VPP's are nice - you feel like your sitting in the bike rather than on top of it. its a weird feeling i get when i sit on ogie's nomad or VP Free. I guess its because of the amount of sag the design runs. it feels really secure. the feeling i get when i ride a bullit is I am on top of the bike - dont know if this helps aidz, but thats just my 2 cents...

Neither of these bikes is really made to be a trail/AM ride, and either will be pretty heavy and pretty clunky in that role, unless you spend a fortune on light parts and compromise performance on the role the bikes are made for.
So you gotta ask yourself, and answer honestly, what kind of riding are you really gonna do on your average riding day? If you want a big hit FR bike and DH racer that will occasionally be used on trails, keep the VP Free and live with the fact that it's never going to be an ideal trail bike.
If you want a rugged-end trail bike that do some hits and some freeriding and the occasional DH race - in other words, if the primary use of the bike is trail/AM - sell 'em both and buy a Nomad.
A bike like the VP Free is made fpr pretty massive abuse. If you don't have the skills to give it that kind of abuse, or if you don't have access to riding areas offering that kind of abuse, you're just paying for a lot of strength and carrying a lot of weight that you're not actually using.
I only say this because I have seen a fair number of people building big-hit FR/DH bikes and then riding them like trail bikes. If you want a trail bike, build a trail bike! Of course if you want a kick-ass FR/DH ride, the VP Free is up there with the best of them...
