Care to recommend some mtb shoe models (regardless of brand) which could double as a casual wear for strolling and japorms na rin? I'm set to buy a new SPD-compatible pair (i'm plannin' to make the shift) but i don't like the "XC race type" designs of the likes of Sidi dominator, Answer palisade, LG Ergogrip etc., primarily 'cause i'm not a racer, and secondly 'cause they're of little use to me outside the trails or when i'm not on the bike i'm looking at a few shimano multi-purpose AT shoes (SH-MT series) and some 661 models, although the latter is typically confined to DJ/skate shoe designs. Oh btw, I'm a cheapskate that's why I want to shoot 'em two birds with one stone. i do plan to optimize the d@mn shoe

i have two mtb/trail/mall shoe
1. oakley radar lock (was 5K pricey) black and grey
2. 06 shimano DX (was 3K) black with gumsole the one with shoe laces cover. looks like space age,
both are comfortable walking, because the cleats are embedded.
but you can still hear the cleats when walking over the tiles of your favorite mall.
between the two the shimano DX is heavy duty,

I can't remember the model but 661 carries casual looking SPD compatible shoes. Although I like the Shimano DX because there's a place where you can hide the laces

I have the LG Ergogrips for the races but I also use the Nike Kato for the casual trail rides. It's also looks cool with its embedded clits... looks like an ACG rubber shoes.
BTW, it's great for those river crossings with rock bottoms that you have to wade through. The soles are very grippy unlike the hard plastic sole of the LG

It looks cool and feels comfy (accdg to him) and priced just right (value for money). He bought it at Sabak for P2500. One piece of advice I learned from him: when buying shoes, buy it from manufacturers that really make shoes. Too bad they didnt have my size. My Specialized spd shoes, though it looks cool and expensive, didnt last very long. After a river crossing, you'll need tons of contact cement to stick the sole back. I even brought it to a shoe repair shop to have it stitched. Well, that's a lesson learned.

Care to recommend some mtb shoe models (regardless of brand) which could double as a casual wear for strolling and japorms na rin? I was thinking of the same (a less agressive, regular looking shoe) when I bought the shimano mt-40. But I realized that the hard sole platform of an MTB shoe is not comfortable for casual walking or strolling. It's a great MTB shoe (quick dry, mud proof outers), you can destroy cheap floor tiles with the cleats , but it's not for long walks. I hear (might heard wrong) that the adidas SPDs have softer soles, but it might suffer some flex if ur using slimmer pedals like eggbeaters. I hope we hear from some owners...

thanks anthrax. i was looking for shoes last weekend when i saw these things. i reckon these are tough, considering the abuse skateboard people give them.

sabretooth, this will be OT but....i've noticed that airwalk has softer soles than vans. for urban, i'll take the vans, for offroad, i'll take the airwalk.

i got the Shimano DX a few days ago. It looks mean, sturdy, and unique and I like it... Unfortunately i don't think it's the right shoe for me so i'm thinking of selling it. My riding style nowadays is inclined towards casual and long XC rides. DH and aggressive riding are far and few in between. I'm such an impulsive buyer dammit

For Vans user reference lang po: Here in PEZA Rosario, Cavite there is an annual X'Mas fair held very Dec. and i've seen Vans shoes (export over-runs) being sold @p1,200.00-1,400.00. I think Cavite PinoyMTBiker Peepz buy their vans and other usable biking gears over here. IMHO it's cheap
