Again some feedback from users/those-in-the-know please
I've read unflattering (and even poor - check out mtbr) reviews about this product. Tacoes easily apparently. But I've encountered quite a few riders using this rim and they seem OK with it.
One LBS here in the province is selling me a pair for a good price. I'd like to know how this rim stacks up against the likes of Mavic 223 and 221 (if i recall correctly the local mavic 223s and 21s are not the genuine article, tama ba?) , Rigida Taurus and Sun Ringle DS2-XC.
The Speed Disc (aftermarket ver) retails for how much in LBS nowadays? The product being sold in our town doesn't look like an OEM of lesser quality by the way. ty folks

I don't need to mention names. But I assure you they are the who's who aggressive strong century XC riders of PinoyMTBiker. They have just about upgraded their rigs to so and so high end components. But guess what stayed and is still being used and abused because of its proven serviceability. Sirit?

C'mon spill the names sir, so i can ask them straight up (they're not posting eh) Have taken part in quite a few century and hell rides myself but maybe i was too pooped to notice the wheelsets/rims that my fellow riders are using. But then again this past year I'm mostly absent from big epic rides since my relocation down south. I'm just thinkin' whether this could be considered an upgrade to the Mavic 223 and 221 and Rigidas that I've used on my XC bike. It could be me but it feels lighter than those rims i mentioned

im using one. 32H on a formula hub. if posuer said its a crappy hub then just upgrade it to other 32H hub that will fit your needs. me......im happy so far. since i got it i haven't touched the hub for repacking. 223 is also tough. can say anything on that piece of metal. 221 is for Vs, Rigidas as well. if you want try to go for single track rims. tough for XC light enough for aggressive XC and AM.

Thanks for the feedback brionne. Did you say 32 holes? The pair being offered to me has 36(?!) If you check WTB's website there's at least 4 versions of the speed disc - all with 32 holes. Hmm... I'm a happy and satisfied user of the Singletrack rim, thank you vedi much. It's been on my Giant Warp for more than two years now and i'm not planning on replacing 'em anytime soon. I agree that the 223 is a very tough rim (i've seen VERY aggressive riders who've abused it on a regular basis and it's still standin' true) I guess I'm just lookin' for a lighter upgrade (430g yata ang speed disc) and 'sides the fact that there are way too many 223s around btw are you using this on your Marin bike?

Me too I used WTB Speed Disc rims, 32H, with Shimano M475 disc hubs. Been using it for 3 months now everyday on roads and trials on weekends.
so far so good.....
