Nice bag. What material is it made of? And I was wondering....what sort of "local bag manufacturer" would you mean? Some guy who makes local Jansport imitations? Hiow much did it cost you?
I'm interested.

i got my bike bag in Cartimar, but yeah, i think the ones in Trek in Quirino are better.
mine is made of hmm...i think it's 500 denier nylon. almost similar to the material of the elite series Habagat packs.

if you will order this @ trek, material will be surely nylon packcloth (waterproof)... it will cost more if made with ripstop fabric... for durability, cordura is the material of choice, but much heavier... zippers will surely be ykk... webbings (straps) will surely be hi-thread count... HTH

trek bags are kinda large, don't u think? i bought one last year for that trip to korea. although i never got to bring it there(purchased a bike in seoul instead), the construction is very well done, has a good nylon material and yes, sturdy and burly zippers.
my main complaint is the size. i wish it is as short as a long frame. i think they measured it with the handlebars turned sideways only. also, it would've been nice with some compartments for the wheels and other stuff. it makes that bag from general santos look interesting. some paddings would be good for the trek bag too but on the other hand, it can easily be folded into a much smaller size without them.

Just wanted to share a customized bike bag ( courtesy of of my good friend Rodney'spacks-932-4187 ). He makes packs and other camping stuff, I inquired if he can do a bike bag for my hardtail cannondale. He asked me to bring the bike to his workshop for measurements. The picture above is the result. It features a full zip bike bag (to make it easy packing your bike), two inside pockets for your tires, another small pocket for various items (i.e. tools, shoes), has paddings, and best of all compression straps and shoulder carry on straps. I was lucky to have a very light mtb, it was easy carrying the bike to a bus or thru the airport. The round bulge at the middle right is my helmet. ;D Since there is enough space inside, I stuffed it itmes like sleeping bag, jersey, shirts, shoes, and tent. What's good doing that is that it served as additional cushion to the bike. Got the bike bag for 1.5k, you may suggest other modifications to Rodney, such as fabric type and additional paddings at the price he gave me.
