I would like to know if what bb's are stiff and sturdy (strong)...
I know most of you guys use truvativ and isis...
i'm particularly looking for a square taper bb, with the metal lock (unlike the conventional plastic)...
I already inquired at a shop, it's about 450 pesos...
Do you guys know a much cheaper one?
thanks kris...

I'll offer my bottom bracket to you, Shimano UN-25 68mm(shell) x 118mm(spindle length), hard plastic lock on left side. just bought it Jan. 2, 2006. regular use only here in our subdivision area. Reason for selling? the bike shop sold me the 118 mm spindle length, I should have insisted on 113mm spindle, which I think is just right for my bike. PhP300.00 is my price.

Reason for selling? the bike shop sold me the 118 mm spindle length, I should have insisted on 113mm spindle, which I think is just right for my bike. PhP300.00 is my price. this recently happened to me as well. but in this case, it was my fault. when the bb on my bike started making noises (of which i am extremely irritated coz i hate weird sounds from my bike), i changed the bb asap. the BB on my shawn H2 works great with a 113mm spindle length. problem is, the left crank arm is too close to the bb itself to the point where there is slight rubbing between the left crank arm and bb. so i opted to use a 118mm this time becoz there isn't any bb spindle length between 113 and 118mm (if i'm mistaken please tell me where to get one becoz i've looked all over for an octalink bb for my LX '03 crank. i would probably need something like 114mm or 115mm max spindle length). i was warned by the mechanic but he just warned me how my front derailleur might find it difficult to shift correctly becoz the largest ring on my crank would be far off to the right but he said that it is possible for the FD to work so i told him to install the 118mm bb and do what needs to be done. but its just half of my problems. the big problem is it ruined my bike's drivetrain like crazy. it was way out of line. the chain was like twisted on the proper gear ratios and would probably destroy the teeth on my crankset before i could pedal 1k mileage on the bike. so i bought a 113mm bb. i replaced the 118mm bb in less than 24 hrs. sucks, i had to learn the hard way for something simple and practical. by the way, i'm selling my shimano octalink bb 118 mm spindle for P500. orig price is P700. spankin' bnew. P200 less for a stupid mistake. i learned a lot though, hehe.
