We had a customer come in with a problem regarding a fake Chris King Headset. There was a problem with clearances so the headset was loose no matter how we tightened it. I suggested that he remove it and just use the cane creek s6 that was previously installed.
Remember guys, if its an imitation it might not have the same quality guarantees that the original offers.

what do you achieve with a phony headset ? maybe matched with a phony frame and phony cross maxxes you can be the ultimate phony biker .
You'd be better off buying a cheaper priced not so exotic branded headset but at least it comes from a factory with manufacturing standards.

IMHO fake Chris King headsets are "cheaper priced not so exotic branded headset but at least it comes from a factory with manufacturing standards" only stamped and anodized in Chris King design.
Its bad yes, but like my fake FSA headset I got (no choice its the only headset for sale here, matigas ulo ko), otherwise would have been stamped as VP components or etc, if properly mounted will perform like its original cousin (Pxxxx/days of service or greater). Hell I would get a fake one to match my original hub if ever it comes out in pink.

still a product for posers . considering the supposed poor tolerances in manufacturing and it being priced more than double or even triple a legitimate branded alternative (CC, FSA) . the only reason someone would buy it, is to pretend its real .

I have nothing against those who buy fakes... maybe its cost factor... But I consider imitation as the lowest form of thievery. Its better to buy the cheaper alternative than buy an imitation.

Bling??? I don't think so!!! You want to impress others, only once it was discovered as an imitation, you will be looked down upon... maybe not directly, but your character will suffer. .02 But I consider imitation as the lowest form of thievery. bling factor without the bling cost. ;D

Somebody offered me one for 1k, and I thought the price is cheap. Out of curiosity, without even seeing the product, I agreed. I didnt buy coz I want CK headset. I told the BS I need the cheapest, "pwede na" quality headset for my spare bike, the one i lend to friends. She insisted the fake CK and said so many good things about it, original sealed bearings, lightweight and hard to distinguish from the original. Anyway, If you will take away the CK marking, you have a perfectly good headset for 1k. I dont know why the maker or faker of this didnt just put their name on it rather than capitalize on the popularity or reputation of CK. I can even get it for 800 php.

It won't sell... a name is very important... would you still buy it we would name it "KONG" or say "KRIS" what about if its hard sell like "TOUGH LITE" or "HEADZTRONG" I guess you won't even budge to inquire about it. The story becomes different once the name CK comes into the scene. I dont know why the maker or faker of this didnt just put their name on it rather than capitalize on the popularity or reputation of CK. I can even get it for 800 php.

That's true, but he didnt achieve overnight success, it took him years to before his product was noticed. But I find CK a little expensive specially their headset itself for the fact that its not a major moving part, it just move half turn left or right. And there are other brands with the same quality at half the price. Not that I hate CK, in fact I want one too. I guess his name was built on reputation and good marketing as most US brands are like Harley and ETC.

...and the highest form of thievery is copying a product and stamping your own name on it? haha! joke lang ka verong the faker should choose from the following for their own CK: Cheap King, Cheapo King, Calbien Klein, Copy King, Clone King. Counterf8t King one thing though...even with its quality, reputation and all, i find CK really just too d@rn expensive..its really not for everybody..that's the sad truth for me. but if money isnt an issue, i'll have em in all colors to match my jersey on particular days ;D just my 2 cents.

What I forgot is, if they can do a product almost identical to the CK, why not make with their own design. Theres not that much you can do with the headset anyway, same bearing from the same company, same materials. A little wider here or there or alittle color or a different shape. If you will look at all of them headset, they all look the same except of course the intergrated one's but they use the same bearings also from the same company

Hey enzo,
no offense taken... I'm not pro CKs, although I do have high regard for their product, having used some. I'm not advertising them whatever, cause they haven't paid me a cent... doesn't give me FREEBIES NOR DISCOUNTS!!! hehehe
The issue is just IMITATION, fake is fake. My opinion is the same whatever product it may be.

No worries Ka Verong, Like you I've used their products too and swore by them, Thats why I quote if the faker/manufacturer can make an almost identical one, why not do their own product put their name on it, do minor adjustments here and there. Also for 800php to 1k retail, they can improve the product somewhere and retain their name. Kaya lang namamahalan na ako ngayon sa pesyo nila (expensive)

I've seen these fakes... colors are either too pale or too flashy... the anodizing of the originals are very deep, and takes years before fading. Unlike these pix, the ones I saw has interupted crown race. I might consider buying these fakes on ff condition: 1. It should be cheaper than known reliable brands 2. Those who used it will attest on its performance Then I'll have it painted "Cring Kring"

Saw them displayed in a local bike shop. I'm just surprised they are selling class b King headset considering this bike shop imports high end frames.. tsk tsk tsk. It's a Goodbye to Class B Chris King!
an original CK gives you a 10-year warranty (that's according to the manufacturer)
