I can't stress enough times about saying "Wear yer helmets!" From the pics ya see below, I took a header down a concrete sidewalk after my front wheel hooked up sideways after landin' a jump and I cartwheeled off my bike. Still nursin' a sprained necka and a couple of bruises. Anyway, the thing I like about skate-style or freeride helmets is the abuse it can take like multiple hits / impacts which would normally destroy an XC helmet. The trade off though is that these types of helmets are hot n' heavy. Another thing is the wrap around protection they provide for yer noggin' if you notice the impact on my helmet is quite low, there's also scuffing in the area where my ear would be. Moral lesson kids? "Never try to pull an x-up at the end of a jump!"

brad! The Bell skate helmet is another good helmet. Stick with the bell, it's a reliable helmet. Unless you feel you need to change 'coz of damage or anything, but if it's in pretty good shape, keep it! ;D how much ba is a 661 mullet? currently I'm using a bell skate helmet, would this be better or just the same?

I'm also using a mullet (gift from my wife he.he. . Yes it's a bit hot and heavier than my XC helmet. But I feel well protected. You can see that it covers up-to the back of your head..

sir peach, you would wear a full face cruising the streets? i do it too but only if i am alone coz i usually run faster when biking alone, and usually make the streets as a bike park. hehe. but if i just cruise around, i use half face now. but before i only wear a cap, even tried going to ka vergel in maarat just wearing that. tough luck i had. hehe. always wear your helmet people! all the time to avoid STD's!! eeck!! ibang helmet un ah.

hey how come i wear my full-face anywhere, he he he i had my share of accidents. but awakening came from a friend of mine who did an endo at the middle of buendia before we crossed pasong tamo. he had a cut upper lip and required a few stitches to close it. since then, i saved up for my dream helmet. it's a 2 in 1. i can remove the faceguard if i want a normal xc looking helmet. or leave it on (see my avatar). i think in the 3 years i'm using it, i only removed the faceguard once. it's because i'm wearing tight shorts and lycra jersey going to amari, he he he

yeah i like the giro switchblade too. i can't wear an open lid helmet anymore... just doesn't feel right when i do. i love my mouth the way it is, just can't imagine smacking the ground w/o that lower piece.

tenacious doll is really giving a lot of valuable input about this topic.
anyway, mullets are good. seen a lot of people using them. they look nice too. as for accidents, lets just hope that none of us get to experience what our helmets can really do for us. really-using-helmets = crashing = is not fun.
