Rigida Taurus-originally form Alessa-Belgium labored in China now - vey very strong-proven by the dirtjumpers of San pedro and Biñan.
Mavic is good and strong too, but the price is higher. X223 is one of the best.

I use Rigida taurus, has yet to go V-Cut on me doing 5- foot drops...still with me for 2 years.
for XC-use I guess these are good enough.
the rigida safetylines sold here as far as I know aren't original, they're the same rim they use for those crossmax fakes....well, sticker anyway.

Rigida brand is an old name, older than mavic, much like other manufacturers before, they kinda bowed out or layed low from the bicycle scene, much like Suntour was.
Rigida before was where Mavic is now, early 1990's to 94' they were good rims, but couldn't cope with the fast technology happening.
unfortunately, they were only popular in europe, since Mavic, Sun rims and other US manufactured rim were obviously more used by choice by Americans, because of the "Made in the USA" mentality....

I have 223's on my bike right now. when i was building my wheel set an old classmate of mine told me these rims were not good for Freeriding. Up to now they still are on my bike. Seems ok to me. Plan to change them though and haven't used rigida yet so can't compare them...

tnx 4 d feedbak guys ... i mite get d taurus since its cheaper and wider than 223's, lance_5346 " I use Rigida taurus, has yet to go V-Cut on me doing 5- foot drops...still with me for 2 years " well this tells us that it is tough enough for XC

mavic is French... I'm almost sure. I stand corrected, Lolz ;D ;D ;D ;D Its okey Lance, but we cant help it... the country that contributed most to MTBs promotion is US, since media plays a key role on everything in our lifestyle... And Mavic is aggresive also with its marketing. If the famous riders rides them then our average Juan will likewise wants on his rig. Nowadays...if you dont promote your products well...you die... make me wonder about Araya. I still se their products here but japanese goes for Mavic also Errr I use DT...its swiss cheese (or watch) laced to a English hub.

Kinda right there, It's always been marketing strategy and brainwashing, we always se it happening around us, people always buy what is said is right by advertisments, but in turn always cash in more than what they need.
For the Araya brand...unfortunately, there are no more authentic Araya rims sold in the philippine market nowadays, now those were really tough rims....and cheap too.
