Merida is a Taiwanese bike maker which has a huge success in Europe.
Currently to most dominant female cross country champion rides a Merida hardtail. Gunn-Rita Dahle....Olympic champion....UCI women's number XC one rider for the past few years.
From what I heard, they have a partnership with Specialized (that is why the swingarm design is similar to Epic'S)
Bike looks good.

Xtreme has one on display. I think it's going for PhP 115,000 for the whole bike. Check it out!

Im not sure if Edmund still has the frame in All Terra. If Im not mistaken he was selling around 40T+. The HT Matt Pro was doing P14T but I dont know the price of the magnesium version of this.

The suspension acts like a Sid fork, Positive and Negative chamber. Want that Non-Bobbing effect? just pump up the Positive side of the shock, want it active ? more air in the negative, with a course that's super techinal and super bumpy then flatens out at the endand you without the shock pump? it's surely far from what the real Epic has to offer, of course it bloody looks almost identical. i'm sure someone will slap a specialized epic decal on that bad boy. As always, 0.2 cents

The Epic has Horst link with the linkage below the axle giving it a vertical axle path. The Merida's link is above the axle giving it an axle path similar to that of a single pivot bike. Merida doesn't want to pay Specialized the royalties for the FSR-Horst link design. Nicolai pays 11.60 Euro royalty for each bike. Other bikes using the Horst link are Turner, Ellsworth, Atomike's Norco, Giant NRS, Intense Tracer (Intense now uses SCs VPP), Titus and a lot more of the upper end manufacturers. Bikes with similar linkage to the Merida are Kona and Jamis. Jamis used to have the Horst link too but they let go of it and moved the link to the top when the stable platform shocks came out, like that of the Manitou Swinger (same on Merida), Fox Float Propedal.
In other words, this design depends on the stable platform rear shock to make it efficient. Unlike the Epic, the Horst link already adds pedal efficiency plus it makes use of a stable platform Fox Brain shock.
What I'd want to see would be Merida's hardtail. It's Suweet!!!!

From what I heard, they have a partnership with Specialized (that is why the swingarm design is similar to Epic'S) Can't be true. The Epic's Brain Shock, when you look closely is very much different from LRS (Low ratio Suspension) on Merida. While the brain shock is attached to the lower end of the swing link, the LRS shock is attached rear of the seat tube by the pivoting I-Link (Intelligent Linkage) and maintains a static relationship to the frame. You can visit this link: www.merida.com/s0_global/main_control.php?group0=tech&group1=lrswww.specialized.com/bc/techlab_brain.jsp?a=b

merida manufactures specialized frames. i remember seeing their mission frames in bike mags before the epic came out.
the newer or higher end merida mission & transmission frames now have manitou spv shocks instead of their old lrs shocks!
