anybody owns or tested a WELLGO MAGNESIUM pedal? my LBS in laguna is selling a pair but i dunno if it's the real deal or a japeyk one. it looks OK (not polished or refined looking enogh though) and felt real light! and there's a neat package and all and it's price is quite cheap so am thinkin' of gettin' it. looks somethin' like this but gray in color but in catalogues i've seen the magnesium pedal looks like this one: i'm lookin' to replace my worn out da bomb pedals with this. so this will be used for AXC, light free ride and occasional DH. (hm i wonder if it will hold up...) Any feedback here guys?

boyet the bike mechanic of cycle art gave me a used pair, haven't tried it yet but they loook alright.
the black ones are not convenient to repack, they're probably oem versions on entry level rigs.
those you saw in the catalogue, their the bees knees! slight difference is the spindle; you can see that an allen bolt secures it w/c makes for easy maintenance and they're probably stainless steel in sealed bearing config, not sure. compared to the oem version w/c i bet my life is cro-mo or i'll throw these in the river!
i intend to use it same way you would but if i may just add: street!
i'm riding mostly roadie for some weeks now, part of my self imposed recovery. will check with you later when i do urban commute on tha fattire. I miss the curbs!

i use these pedals and are good enough and is reasonably priced at P450. i use this in urban rides and it's quite ok, though sometimes it slips when i use ordinary slippers but it had'nt slipped my pumas and adidas' yet. i have the silver one. but i don't think it'll hold up in DH/freeride though i haven't tried it, i think it'll hold it's own more on the urban side i guess

but i don't think it'll hold up in DH/freeride though i haven't tried it, i think it'll hold it's own more on the urban side i guess i have to agree with you here. maybe the FPD freeride platforms and Primo will handle the rough stuff better. but yes the wellgos are quite cheap and very light! (it's lighter than all Da Bomb pedals and even the Kore and DX models i've held and weighed in my hands.) can't find a black pair though

wellgo platforms, in my experience, are not intended for DH/trail riding/FR. i own a pair and after a couple of rides down maarat-wawa, they started to make that clicking noise. i opened it up (it is not the sealed bearing type) and re-greased the parts only to hear the clicking noise after a few days of bike commuting.
i'm currently saving up a couple more bucks and i'm getting one of those da bomb pedals.

I own a blue pair. Bought them from Christy's. Very light but prone to rapid wear vs. cleats and road rash (banking too much).
I know they are original...Wellgo manufactures all types for most brands not just its own. It also manufactures low, mid and high end pedals as per a magazine articcle. Twasnt specified which high-end units they produced though.
For P450 or P400 bucks ..they re ok. I was able to get the aluminum ones through a friend...those are sweet!Buy those if you have them there as well
Good luck

I got the black pair stock on my first bike (an Iron Horse). LAsted several months without a hitch, including a curb jumping session, and a wet ride. Nothing to report, which is good. Then I went clipless and got SPD's.
The one being offered to you is probably an OEM, not fake. Ok na rin yon, if youre on a budget. Ride it til it dies and then get a more expensive one.
