Do expensive saddles really do the trick? I mean I got a Selle San Marco ODS Race Gel saddle and I use it during long weekend rides. My butt starts to sore after an hour and a half of ride. Is it my saddle or do I have to bike a little bit frequent to develop callus on my butt?

It was as hard as card board on it but after a 1,000 km logged it shaped to my butt for 3,000 at that time it was way expensive

Honestly i didn't believe the hype with expensive saddles. oem wtb saddles were the only way to go for me. then i tried on a fizik for my new ride (got the saddle coz it looked real comfy and alot of people were telling me how good it really was). how right they were. the plateau saddle has been the most comfortable saddle i've ever sat my white ass upon ;D its really comfy and was a great investment IMO.

its either some people don't know what they're missing, or they just get used to what they have ;D
i have tried a cheap Giant, a couple of cheap generics, then tried the more pricey Selle Italias, and lately a Specialized BG2 Pro.
for me there is a difference, in terms of fit, materials (titanium, carbon, a good gel vs alloys and "padding"), fit, and looks.
the most comfortable saddles i've used so far are the Selle Italia CT2, the Specialized BG2 Pro...and can't wait to get the new Specialized Rival or Alias under my bum ;D

gulliver,
u owe it to yourself to try the WTBs. i know saddles are like shoes... some fit and some don't but dnt go buying anything else w/o trying the wtb. u won't regret it.

I have a WTB Laser V..... its bit hard for my sensitive ass, looking forward on replacing it with Fisik soon or maybe a well padded cycling short will do

so going back to the first question.... it's not the price. it's how the technology (material/design) fit w/ your butt.

Cguro fit on the butt ang key, kasi I myself madami nang nabili mamahalin na saddle pero nagpapalit pa din ako, naka sundo ng wetpu ko itong mahabang velo na di naman kamahalan talaga. ;D
