Oh btw, I previously owned an RST with that same kind of remote lock out mechanism... and its such a PAIN IN THE A$$ to use. You cant event cut it to length thats why it comes pre assembled. Sheeesh
Wait a minute, seeing that the First is only 3 pounds, I think it deserves a second look. Will somebody point me out to a reputable review of this fork. thanks. I'll just cut off the RL if its still a pain to use. ;D

angelobryant they're actually new. i'm waiting also for a reputable review. i'm eyeing on the first fork and it's reasonably light and probably cheap. let's wait.

I've also heard good news about the RST M-29 (29er specific front squisher), the rightmost fork in the photo. Its price/performance ratio makes it a "Reba-Killer", according to some riders who've had time with it. Hopefully the RST distributor would bring some in

Check out the reviews at MTBR 2008 forks. Its there. Although the price seems to be high for an RST fork. Something around 13K. Granted that we can get it here for less, it will still be high compared to other RST forks we have here. I'll wait for local reviews before I get one.

I just saw an RST fork at Jane's, it's worth 5,800... Looks tough with what I think is a 36mm stanchion and 7" travel... And it's a single crown! It's tempting to buy but still... You'd never know until we got a tester... Any reviews? I think it's a STORM series as I checked from their site...

at Janes and Decimal; there are only a single stock of Storm and F1rst(not sure or T'was Titan) w/o the remote lock that sells around 6k, if you will basing the prices on the net it is really expensive almost the price of Rock Shox, tnx to our LBS the prices are below 10k, they just want to test market it here first... the weight of the Storm is quite heavy though much lighter than the RST Launch, im eyeing more on this Space Jump for my DJ setup hopefully by next year, RST will release an improved version of their forks for the 2009 model w/c i saw on the net last night, i will post the link here later... RST Space JumpRST R1 is promising as well

Tried RST but i will still stick with SR Suntour forks. Suntour simply kicks ss. I saw a comment in mtbr and i surely agree with what one of the riders wrote... some fork have fancy stickers and those fancy knobs but SR Suntour is simply made with good but great performance. In a wise man's point of view who needs those fancy stickers and fancy knobs anyways? As long as the fork's performance is great it will surely be a big hit. Thats what SR Suntour is, simple looks and great performance.

wendellc... im not taking sides here whether RST or Suntour but lets make this review unbias, kindly tell us which particular RST model and year have you used? i have friends with budget constraints led them to use RST Launch, but bombing down DH trail here in Subic, i knew the Launch is not intended for DH apps but it serves them very well on that aspects... by the way im using Suntour Epicon and im also bombing down DH w/ this fork, well you are right its the performance thats count and not the fancy bling bling...

here we go again!!! ;D ;D definitely this thread is for RST not SR... when you launch a product, there's some good and there's some bad, the refinement with the future launch product will be based on the bad omen (feedback, abuse, etc) retaining the good ones and with some add-on to make it appealing to the intended market... and that's why RST release another set to further enhance their previous versions and able to penetrate the market again... my two cents contri... ;D

i252.photobucket.com/albums/hh36/bertongputik/RST.jpg[/IMG]Seems that RST have ran in to a few problems regarding their new award winning long travel fork. The Storm range of forks have been doing the rounds for a few seasons and stick to RST’s basic but effective design plan ‘If its meant for freeride it will be strong but heavy, if its for XC it will be super light and durable enough for XC race’. It sounds like an obvious business idea, but more and more companies have put time and money in to dropping the weight of their big hit forks, but all this usually does is increase the price and sometimes effect the performance and longevity (Manitou) of the fork. RST stick to a budget and build the best fork they can for that price bracket. The Storm LUX was looking to be their big break back in to the major leagues. It boasts more than 150mm of travel on a strong and stable chassis. Rebound and compression control, air springs and a remote travel adjust. Unfortunately the boys and girls over at Bionicle, a German company known for their travel adjust bikes and forks, didn’t take to kindly to RST’s design approach and claimed it breaches their patents. We at CMTB believe the only issue is that the RST uses a remote controlled system, and if they drop the handle bar lever could get away with it (is that what KOWA did?). Let’s hope RST get this solved one way or another and get the LUX on to the production line, it could give the big boys a bit of a shock and run for their money. source: CHINA MTB REVIEWS ON THE NEW 2008 RST FORK

the weight of the Storm is quite heavy though much lighter than the RST Launch, I hefted the RST Storm at Decimal and I can swear that its heavier than an RST Launch. But I could be wrong. Better yet, I'll check out the weight of the Storm sa website nila to be sure.

@vheejay
I wasn't able to ask the price kasi I wasn't really eyeing the RST Storm (type ko yung RST Titan- Php5,800 kay Decimal). Curiousity lang kaya binuhat ko yung Storm. Color nya is flat black, not white. It looks and feels beefy.
