Just rode with Gary and Sj this morning with my friend Lito as our guide. These guys are strong!! We went to El kabayo and if you guys remember the steep climb XC course? Gary conquered that with his DINGLESPEED hehe... Dude... by the 3rd time around, I was walking up that steep pitch right before the singletrack! The downhill section of the course was a TON of fun! the rocks right before the drop before the road was tricky...

We had some family matters to take care of in Botolan, Zambales so on the way home we stopped by and spent the night in Subic in anticipation of riding early the next day... Fortunately, we had Deng and Lito volunteer to show us around. We rode from the Subic Park Hotel to the El Kabayo Falls race track and went around the track 3 times and on the last run, we rode down the downhill course... The downhill course was a lot of fun and it would've been even more fun if we were on our 575's (my bike wasn't in any condition to launch any of the drops)... In front of Subic Park Hotel... Uh-oh... Those look like thunderstorm clouds... Lito, SJ and Deng going up to the falls... The group: Me, SJ, Lito, Dr. Dale, Jason and a guy whose name escapes me... SJ and Jason on the singletrack... That section was super fun! The whole day long, I wanted to sing "Welcome to the Jungle"... Lito and Deng took us to find the fruit bats which we did on the way to Ocean Adventure... We also looked for monkeys but only found one... Don't worry, we didn't feed this one.. Ocean Adventure. SJ got to swim with the false killer whale and dolphins! The not so happy ending... I found this after the first XC loop... By the time the end of the ride, it has split all the way through... I think I can milk her for one more ride... Maybe... Thanks again to Deng and Lito for showing us around the Subic trails!

Noel (NVP) organized this ride but was unfortunately unable to join us due to work commitments. Hopefully he can join us for the next ride.... We first met Allan (sup) at All Terra in Libis then we met everyone else at the Shell in Gotesco. From there we went off to La Mesa... King, Allan and SJ meeting and having coffee at the Shell/Gotesco Pre-ride meeting at La Mesa. There were over 20 people in the group so we broke up into two groups of 10+ each... 2 hotties meeting... My brother (Kuya Ferdie) at one of the many stops along the way... SJ enjoying the shade... It was crazy HOT and HUMID! Riding shots! Yes, the bike held up OK... SJ and Den-Den our incredibly strong and tireless guide... The biggest bee I've ever seen. It enjoyed humping Agu's finger... but I think Agu enjoyed it just as much ... One of the Tower stops... MrsM and King... Post ride meal... Chow King has become SJ's favorite. Bangus, kang kong, catpao and Black Gulaman... Way better than Burritos... And of course, the birthday boy King treated everyone to a round of Halo Halo. Thanks brad! We almost pulled an Edmund M and took a nap right on the spot but we hung on.. After getting back to the condo, the pool beckoned so we gave in. It was a good time to test the underwater digicam case anyway... SJ doing a scene from Apocalypse Now...

Sayyang we didn't get to ride... closest we got was when you passed us on the road on the way to Subic. Was wondering how you knew it was us, but I guess two orange Yetis and a black Chumba is kind of a signature!
Enjoy Palawan, we did...

Ahhh... finally, internet access... Palawan has been great even though it's been stormy. Luckily, it doesn't storm underwater... hehe... Here is a link to the pictures of the vacation so far... s227.photobucket.com/albums/dd274/flipnidaho/Spring%20Break%202008/Enjoy... Dindo's resort was one of the highlights. Busuanga Island is an mountain biker's paradise. I wish we brought bikes (next time na lang)....

We spent 8 days in the Palawan Province visiting the islands of Coron, Sangat and Northern Palawan's El Nido area. The weather was good even if it was quite a bit stormy at times. We got some good snorkeling and sightseeing in, SJ got to dive a WW2 wreck and penetrate in, and we got some good beach time. We also ate a lot and gained a ton of weight. But hey, it's vacation and we were more active than if we were on a cruise. If you're ever int he Coron/Busuanga Islands, you can't go wrong with the Busuanga Island Paradise or Sangat Island Preserve (a diver's paradise). Both incredibly clean and beautiful places with even more incredible staff. First, some Subic video of SJ swimming with the whales and dolphins... An every day occurence at Palawan... Tirik-Tirik waterfalls in El Nido... Our Love Shack at Sangat Island Typhoon condom SJ playing Goldfish with our Finnish friends. El Nido had brownouts so we hung around and played by candlelight while Typhoon Cosme raged all around us. Julia (in this picture) and Emily are sisters and daughters of Eija (Finnish) and Steve (Scottish) and it was their visit to the PI so we hung out with them for a few days. They were a super family and great travelers... The food and mascot at Marbers at the beach in El Nido. The storm from the restaurant deck at Greenviews Resort in El Nido. Another first rate resort with excellent staff! We felt like family there and we were even invited to one of the staff's birthday party... In between rainstorms at the same deck... Always lots and lots of super good food... SJ loves giraffes and she was able to pet and feed a giraffe (Athena) at Calauit Reserve in Busuanga... Tourist shot at Calauit... Some water shots... Into Twin Lagoon El Nido I think she's a little happy... Snorkeling off Miniloc Starfish and brightly colored fish... Alone on 7 Commando Beach El Nido Cave entrance in Twin Lagoon, El Nido In the cave... Videos of the beach and water... Snorkeling area off Miniloc.. [/IMG] Heading into Big Lagoon... Entry into Twin Lagoon... Snorkeling area off of Sangat Island. Amazing live and colorful coral and tons of fish... Undisturbed beauty... Banol Island off of Coron. This is where we had lunch... Annina (the Sangat Island Preserve puppy)....

After the Palawan Islands trip, we had a scant few days to get ready to pretend to be roadies for a weekend... SJ was able to borrow a bike from a friend (Vince Sevilla) and do some training rides up to Cottage Gardens/Sierra Madre. The road was pretty rough on Marcos Highway until you get further up but not too bad since most of the potholes were easily bunny hoppable... SJ and I did a ride up Cottage Gardens on Tuesday to test out the borrowed bike and the fit of the new kit... Then another CG ride with the team on Wednesday... And my dear friend Edmund/All Terra was able to join us... This is one busy man and for him to take the time out to ride with us was special.... Breakaway specialist Albert... Heading down... An old teammate from back in the Team All Terra days, Ted Pascual. He was generous enough to lend SJ his bike for the weekend's XRC race. A Vellum with full Campy Record! Ted, Atty Mike and Coach Ponga (X-Terra's team coach) at CG... Me, Atty Mike and Ted. I'm in my usual OTB position... On Saturday's XRC Road Race, SJ flatted at the base of the climb and had to wait a few minutes to get a team mate's wheel (Thanks Mach!) before she can begin chasing again. The great news is that an X-Terra Team mate Ave won by catching a David Salon rider on the climbs with less than 2kms to go and dropping her. SJ was able to chase back into 4th place! We missed the award's ceremony since we were busy stuffing our faces with fried chicken after the race.. Sunday's 20km Uphill Individual Time Trial was a different story as ITT's are more like a mountain bike race so it suited SJ better (she can see the course and avoid any glass or potholes and it's her against the rider in front of her). We were let out at 1 minute intervals and SJ caught 3 people that started in front of her. The term coach called it was she "tinuhoged" 3 riders. She won by a couple of minutes with another X-Terra Teammate coming in second! SJ hits the gas... Post race... Me, I was OTB both races with back pain... I was hoping to do better but the back pain was somewhat debilitating... I did catch my 2 minute man on the ITT (the guy that started 1 minute before me was a no show so I had to go get my 2 minute guy instead)... I was also able to help Ave on the climb to the finish a little bit until my back pain got a little to much and I had to pull over... Of course, the next best thing to racing is the post race meal(s)! Andrew C and Stephen in the cafe at Chateau Royale The team at the Bulalohan in Tagaytay. As you can see, SJ is not eating. On Thursday, she ate something bad at a family function and she was unable to keep any food down this weekend which made her results all the more remarkable. As a matter of fact, she looked so bad the morning of the ITT that we seriously considered just having her stay in the hotel room to try to stay hydrated and to rest (she did not sleep at all Saturday night)... The folks in the pictures all mountain bike as well... Me, SJ, King, Wins, Ave, Kuya Ferdie (my brad) and Stephen...

I prefer climbing up in the neutral van as compared to busting my lungs.

Actually I was thinking of giving SJ my whole bike but I think by that time, I was one of the few Cat C X-Terra guys that haven't flatted so I had to keep going. Chasing back towards the front hurt so bad...
