Ask ko lang, ang Shimano Deore up models ay made in japan, ang avid na ay saan ba made?
Sa endurance ba, example the sta.rosa road na pababa Tagaytay to Sta.

I currently use the Avids and have been using it for over one (1) year now. No problems with performance and maintenance, just replace the pads when they are worn and clean the rotors when they start making noise. Modulation is perfect ... parang hydraulics almost. Improved the feel of the levers with replacement of cables to teflon and full lenght carbon casings (Alligator). Now para talagang hydraulics. Have used it downhill in Maarat and Sta. Rosa with very minimal fading.
I have not really tried the deore discs but some say its also good except that it does not have the stopping power of the avids.

guys,
how about Hayes hmx may review ba kayo?kc sa paghinto satisfied ako, although minsan naninikit, lalo na pag tinanggal at kinabit ko uli yung front rim. Last ride sa pinugay, parang iba na yung tunog ng breaks ko duon sa downhill(last portion) before the pave road, should I have it check?
Overall experience ko dito ,sa kapit no problemo pero,it seems madals manikit ang breaks ko.
I havnt' tried any other brands

guli,

Bikester,
Just align your rotor. Happened to me also dahil of the long downhill runs in Maarat and Sta. Rosa... the rotor warps due to the heat.
Get an adjustable spanner. Adjust to the thickness of the rotor and use it to bend rotor back to shape. Use the disc pads as guide. It takes time but is very easy to do.
Good luck!

bikester
problem ko din iyan, ive learn to live with it! sabi ko ok lang kahit may sabit basta puede kabit! I mean adjust na lang ako sa pads(avids are easy to adjust) kaya nga lang minsan it takes time lalo na fork mount ka sa bike rack mo tapos magiistart na ang run!

bikester, i think i understand now your problem...ok, lets take a look at it tomorrow. may tinuro si chinaman s akin re brake caliper and rotor alignment, and i discovered something else so that re-installation of wheel is as close to perfect... na walang sabit ang brake ;D but if your rotor is already warped, see if you can get it flattened out by a machine press at a good machine shop muna. preventing disc warp starts from the first day you use your bike dude

Anyways, just my 2 cents sanay maayos agad ang iyong problema.

tama yung sinabi tungkol sa alignment, kailangan perfect! one procedure i learned half from my LBS, and half from experimentation goes like this: 1) loosen the frame mountings of your brake caliper 2) have someone press on the brake lever to clamp the pads onto your rotor...try nudging the caliper to make sure na kapit na kapit siya at deretso siya with the rotor 3) then re-tighten the mounting bolts 4) release the lever 5) adjust the inner pad to a distance as close to your rotor as you can, na di siya sasabit. this is important in preventing a warped disc, kasi mapansin mo, magiging minimal ang flex ng rotor pag nakaengage na ang brake isa pa pala...prerequisite nito flush-mounted yung wheels mo sa frame, at ayos pa pads mo. works for me, might work for you. happy trails

Hi all,
I've got the Shimano M475 disc brake na made in malaysia. I got for 2,350 + the shimano M475 disc hubs for 1,1k. OK na rin sya for its price. cross country ok pero di ko pa na try for downhill.
anyone here using this model of hubs and discs?

What I can say about my shimano disc is dehins sya tulad ng Avids na pag pindot mo hinto agad ang gulong...parang mas mahina eto... dehins pala parang - talagang mas mahina!! I've compared it to Maxbuwaya's Avid and Bikester's Hayes ...isang advantage nito eh dehins agad mauubos ang gulong mo kaka skid hehehe I'm using it with FatBoy hubs (meron info nito sa tech help) See you on the trails at testingin natin

My Shimano Deore M545 Mechanical can be easily adjusted.

Hi Fullspeed, yes, may blue sya sa gilid. color black din ba yang calipers mo? i also have the RT-50 rotor. mas mahina sya nung una kong kabit. nung nasa brake in preriod pa. Pero nung na brake in ok na sya. mas malakas kesa sa deore v-brake ko dati. been using it for a month now. so far puro road pa lang ako, ccp, macapagal area, the fort at around makati / pasay. ok din kaya sa trails to? how long have u been using your shimano disc brakes? nakapag palit ka na ba ng brake pads and if yes, saan at magkano mo nabili? Trox,
Grupo ko kasi nabili ang Deore ko e, so I guess the rotor is also a deore? May kulay orange na sticker indicating warning signs of high temperature.

Trox, "how long have u been using your shimano disc brakes? nakapag palit ka na ba ng brake pads and if yes, saan at magkano mo nabili?" Since July last year pa, havent changed pads yet after around 1,500 kms. Ayos pa nman daw sabi ng mekaniko.
