Don't have anything to do this summer? Or are you sick of the going to the usual places for your vacation trip, usually filled with commercial joints and crawling with other tourists?
Then consider our offer and turn to the great outdoors.
The UP Mountaineers invite you to join a series of open climbs, named "Talikasan," which is designed for novice and non-climbers, and particularly students on a budget. These climbs aim to provide alternative outings by bringing the participants to various places in the Philippines, letting them see and appreciate the beauty of nature.
Here is the line up of activities:
March 1 - "Mag-exorcise Tayo sa Hating-gabi": The 1st Multo-Sport Race
A night fun triathlon within the grounds of UP Diliman. Not really mountain climbing, but a fun event nevertheless. It's not often that you could swim, bike and run within the campus while the moon is up.
March 15-16 - Mt. Pulag Trek, Benguet (via Ambangeg)
The highest and coldest place in Luzon needs no introduction. This is your last chance to enjoy really cold weather before the summer heat scorches the country. A maximum of 30 participants will be accepted
March 29-30 - Overnight Bikeout, Rizal
Explore the hidden backroads of Antipolo, Teresa, and San Mateo by bike. The 2-day trail buffet will surely leave you saddlesore but smiling.
April 5-7 – Baler Hike-a-Beach, Aurora
Mountains and sea, what more could you ask for? Throw in a few waterfalls and the chance to surf or skimboard, and surely you'll never want to leave. Aurora is waiting to be explored.
April 8-12 - 29th MFPI Congress and Climb, Aurora Province
This year's main event--mountaineers from all over the country will converge in Baler, Aurora for 5 days of fun and outdoor bliss! Check out www.fedclimb08.co.nr for more information.
April 26-27 - Tanay, Rizal
Lush forests and cool waterfalls will make summer a little more pleasant. All the perks of the backcountry at a stone's throw distance from Metro Manila.
May 10-11 –Tarak Ridge Hike, Bataan
Get to see Manila Bay from a different angle. Have breakfast with Corregidor in your vista. Tarak Ridge is becoming more and more popular amongst hikers because of its spectacular view and proximity from the metropolis. A maximum of 30 participants will be accepted.
No gear? No experience? No worries!
All you need is a sturdy pair of legs and a good sense of humor, and we'll provide the rest. Get in touch with us and we'll hook you up on these trips.
