There are a lot of things we do on a weekend. I hope everyone can share what they do on their weekend. I'll start mine.......Our weekends are Fridays and Saturdays. For me I start my weekend (Friday) with an early drive to Nad Al Sheba. On the way, you will be stopped by camel traffic - hundreds of them. An early ride with the group. These are the Dubai Roadsters group. Accompanying my wife strolling at the Al Mamzar Beach Park. She needs fresh air and exercise as she had a problem with her lungs and she is now recovering. Under the coconut tree...wow init! Market day...my expertise and normally I get good discount...today we bought vegetables, shrimps, tanigue and fish eggs (itlog ng malalaking isda). Sharks anyone? Late afternoon motorbike ride. On a Saturday, me and wife take our lunch in a fastfood in a mall or a Filipino restaurant at Karama. Window shopping in the afternoon and when we go home, we sleep early. Thanks! Hope you will share yours as well....

Nice market pics there...I never knew that sharks can be eaten...I thought they only eat the fins. Friday is equivalent to a Sunday in the Moslem world. Weekends in the Middle East normally starts on a Thursday and ends on a Friday. However, they changed it here in the UAE and made it Friday 'til Saturday. One main reason is that the whole world are open on Thursday and if we are closed on a Thursday, then we are losing a day (2 days actually including Friday) in business. Saturday is alright because almost all countries are closed on this day as well. With regards to the sharks...honestly I do not know how they cook and eat these! I was actually aiming to get a shot of the big sharks which are normally unloaded at the back of the market but I was told that it will come only in the afternoon. You should see the truck loads of sharks bigger than humans - around 8 truckloads at a time AND I DO NOT KNOW WHAT THEY DO WITH THESE BIG SHARKS!

You've only seen a few camels. You should see them stop the traffic. All vehicles must give way to camels crossing the street. I'll show more pics of them on my next posts. This is the camel race area - there is such a thing here as camel race (like a horse race). 2.) You can only see Filipinas and a few Indian ladies in the market. Local women are not allowed by their husbands to mingle with men. Since most of these vendors in uniform are men, you seldom see women. 3.) You've seen only a few small sharks. I have seen on several occassions truckloads of BIG sharks (even bigger than humans) being offloaded at the back side of this market. They are piled up along a corner and you'll be amazed at the number of sharks - hundreds of them being sold to local and foreign buyers. You won't believe it but I estimate these to be 8 big truckloads of BIG sharks! Yes, you are correct, humans are killing more sharks than sharks killing humans.

Taxis are not allowed to be faster than 120 kph as they have an alarm installed on their meters which is connected to their main office and whoever will go beyond the allowable speed limit will be penalized and/or removed from service. Yes, we drive crazy here...I overspeed when I am in hurry and normally drive at 160 to 175 kph with my car. Motorcycles go as fast as 180 to 220 kph and even at 260 kph along Hatta Road. I drive my 800 cc Suzuki Intruder cruiser bike at an average of 100 to 120 kph only.
