annie, kita panty! retro shaider is the best; annie's yellow rx7, costume of shaider and even the villains are better than zaido. haay..
when i go to japan, i'll buy an ultraman costume for future costume party use. ;D

I think different cultures would of course have a diff way of creating this series. Zaido of course is very Filipinized rendition of the "Space lespu" series I think . . . has a lot of family melodrama, you have your typical poor kid trying to keep his family afloat, the charismatic hero, the love-team tandem . .. I don't remember much the stories of Shaider, what I do remember are the episodes seem to be all the same . . . villains devise some sinister plot to defeat Shaider, Shaider comes in, big robot comes in, Shaider uses his Babylos thingie to defeat them. Maybe I was too young to get the other aspects of the story, I dunno.
But hey,I still say give it a chance and watch it in it's context, that of a Filipino TV series. Yes it's not Shaider (it's his grandson!)
I guess we there's always an appeal of stuff from other cultures. Cheenky tells me Filipino tele-novelas on the other hand are all the rage in Uganda (like how we were with Korean telenovelas).
Go Zaido Blue!!! hehehehe

Shaider all the way, he's even more realistic, he he he!!!
Zaido - students, defending the galaxy, oh come on. my bike helmet looks way cooler than their melon covers.
i was able to watch a full episode last night. the pawns (the dancing henchmen who always gets beaten up) would just stand there. and there's always only 1 zaido fighting at any given time. the 5 amazons...total rip off from the original, they didn't even change the colors, ha ha ha ha.
Ley-ar (Zaido version) was anemic and a whole lot smaller. Vavilos (yeah that was printed in the original toy) was the ship of their captain. and guess what, they can "beam up" people, like Star Trek, ;D ;D ;D
i've read it somewhere that Filipinos and Sci-fi just don't mix well.

i'd stick to shaider..... zaido is like a low budget disaster waiting to happen......
my god what did they do to the DT125s? omg! the costumes and special fx lack a lot of texture, and isnt alexis ( shaider grandaddy!) like tall.... so what happened to all his granchildren? just cuz theyr' half-breeds they have short limbs? hahahaha....... why is amy's panty Pasador size? ( ganun ba talaga kalapad tinatakpan nun?).... seriously! hahahahaha

Me, I stick to the original Shaider. When I was a kid, I can even feel that I'm Shaider doing some stunts in our home. I remember the cute brown dog there, I even wish I have one of that. I also watched 3 previous episodes of Zaido lately, but even my 8 year old cousin has a baduy impression to that show. He would rather watch Gundam DVD's than Zaido.
Just my observation, but correct me if im wrong guys. Their special effects needs mor detail to be more realistic, they should also consider choosing actors that really suits their performance or role in the story. If you will notice they are like trying hard or something.

i agree with the special effects... they're trying to be realistic but they can't do it hahaha... i prefer the old school effects which basically consists of styrofoam and fireworks. hehehe.

I think the issue is that our most pinoy tv series will always have a melo-dramatic aspect. So something like Zaido is filled with so many drama scenes. Maybe the producers want to appeal to a broader range of people, from kids to oldies . . . so they end up attracting old kids like me! mwahahahaha

I remembered watching Shaider the movie back to back with bio-man. "Sigue sigue waka sigue hu-wahhhhhhh"........ hehehe.. If you really think about it, what the heck is that? Villains doing a song and dance before fighting? hehehehe still it was entertaining to watch . . . Did Shaider and Annie ever hook up? I mean the Zaido is Alexis's (the 3rd Shaider) grandson, so who's the grandma?

It was a lot of fun...those days I mean when Shaider, Bioman, Smurfs, Transformers, etc would occupy most of our TV time...
but there's one episode of Shaider that creeps me out, even to this day...
it's the episode where the Villain-of-the-Day was a panget midget dressed in angel garb, and he lures kids with his loooong trumpet. Man, that guy is so creepy I remember having bad dreams about that episode for many nights.
but of course the panty shots are the most memorable...remember annie distracting Fuma's soldiers just by showing them legs. oh, those were the days.
--and oh, the actor who played Alexis (Hiroshi Tsuburaya) died, i think last year pa
