on-one inbred 29 ss disc carbon. website srp 599 gbp = about P51,000 www.on-one.co.uk/index.php?module=pagemaster&PAGE_user_op=view_page&PAGE_id=218&MMN_position=302:302haro mary ss. website srp $930 = around P40,000 www.harobikes.com/mtb/bikes/mary_ss.phpjamis exile 29. website srp $1025, but sells for around P38,000 locally www.jamisbikes.com/usa/bikes/08_bikes/08exile29.htmli personally want to try out a full rigid - steel framed - single speed - 29er next, 4 things my current bikes aren't ( i currently own 2 bikes. carbon, fs, geared. aluminum, ht, geared. both 26ers.) the promised benefits of 29 wheels intrigues me. people who know say steel is real. single speeding is zen-ish they say. full rigid makes things simpler. been reading quite a lot of threads here and "there" over at mtbr. although it's nice to own bikes from the small builders (retrotec, black sheep, eriksen, wolfhound, sycip, jones bike... hehe) the cost is prohibitive. figured the best way is to start with a value steel ss 29er built bike. sana we had more choices available locally. for now jamis is the only accessible ss29er here. good that niners are being brought in, but that easily costs near the P100,000 for a nice build. so, among the 3 which one gets your vote for a nice value steel ss 29er built bike? (it's ok to add your recommendations though...)

you can take a look at the Voodoo frames available at All Terra, or the Surly Karate Monkey at Sabak as well. the Jamis 29er seems to be the best value so far though. i dont think the On One or the Haro are available locally.

If I had the money to burn and the means to bring the frame or bike in the country, I'd choose the Inbred. As king said, the Jamis Exile is the best priced 29er available in the PI. It saves you from the hassles of looking for 29er rims and tires. Most importantly, you can turn it into a geared bike in the event that you don't like the SS experience (Although I doubt it ) I'd like to get my hands on the Gary Fisher Rig too (Alluminum and with Front Suspension nga lang). fisherbikes.com/bike/model/rigLike the Jamis Exile, I wonder if the price here will be cheaper compared to the posted SRP.

The Exile 29er is pretty nicely spec'd (especially the 08 model), and untouchable at it's price point.
Quality steel, nice geometry.
YKK can also set you up with a Salsa El Mariachi I think (could be a bit pricey)
More Voodoos should be arriving soon.

i have asked sir norman/titusx a few months back if they can bring in the inbred, they said they could. but at a cost of P80,000. kinda steep na. if you look closely, on ones are manufactured in taiwan, then shipped to uk. what i'm trying to source now is maybe it's possible to get direct from taiwan. that should cut major shipping costs! hehe with P80,000, add a little more and you could build yourself a nice niner sir9 bike. haaay... among the 3 i like the inbred the most too. mary bar, on one components, carbon fork, high reviews. i don't quite like the sand color though, white would be nice. next na yung haro mary because it sports a mary bar (really love this bar), avid bb5 mechs, nevegals, and good value for money daw according to what i read in mtbr forums. love the baby blue and the green also! since haro bikes are available here, maybe distributors can bring in the mary ss here too. (and sell it way below website srp!)

The Ibis is not made in the US, but it still commands a premium. That goes to shoe the technical know how of some Taiwanese manufacturers. They've been building frames for quite a while now, and they know their stuff. Why not wait for Manitou's Exile, and slap on a set of Mary's? Or contact the local distributor of Haro... expect more brands to come on board and offer 29ers in 2008...and hopefully local distributors will carry them. Oh, forgot to include this disclaimer: Your other bikes will get jealous of the 29er real fast. Hehe Don't say we didn;t warn you! i have asked sir norman/titusx a few months back if they can bring in the inbred, they said they could. but at a cost of P80,000. kinda steep na. if you look closely, on ones are manufactured in taiwan, then shipped to uk. what i'm trying to source now is maybe it's possible to get direct from taiwan. that should cut major shipping costs! hehe with P80,000, add a little more and you could build yourself a nice niner sir9 bike. haaay... among the 3 i like the inbred the most too. mary bar, on one components, carbon fork, high reviews. i don't quite like the sand color though, white would be nice. next na yung haro mary because it sports a mary bar (really love this bar), avid bb5 mechs, nevegals, and good value for money daw according to what i read in mtbr forums. love the baby blue and the green also! since haro bikes are available here, maybe distributors can bring in the mary ss here too. from what i know, the only 29ers "readily" available locally are still: jamis exile, voodoo aizan, voodoo dambala, surly karate monkey, and very recently niner bikes. and i think the jamis exile's the only built bike there. questionable pa the availability of 29er wheels, tires, fork availability. no choice but to wait some more... (although if i had the extra funds, the niner's a nice bike to get!)

Yup the Fuji Built 29er sells for 30k gross.
We've got a niner emd9 whole bike that sells for 40k.
If you want to demo the niner you can visit Grantrail cycles at westgate alabang or view our other frames at Bike town Cyclery.

from my favorite bike blog Bike Snob NYC (to be taken with a grain of salt ) "The 29er Ride Like 29ers and preaching to the choir? You’ll love The 29er Ride, which consists entirely of riders endlessly extolling the virtues of their big-wheeled machines to one-another. Ride highlight from last weekend: hitting that rocky climb again and saying for the fourteenth time, “Oh man, I never would have cleaned that on my 26-inch bike.”" bikesnobnyc.blogspot.com/
