PHOTO COPYRIGHT by RICARDO LEDESMA. One of the few times I was not walking and pushing the bike up. I could have photoshopped this, but I'm hoping the gnarly NeverReach bottle and the spiffy Spiuk helmet distracts you long enough from the "beerish" belly. Gotta check out the "cool, sockless triathlete-look"! Haha!

PHOTO COPYRIGHT BY RICARDO LEDESMA. Right after exiting the transition area. I could have pedalled this (as this was still the start of the bike leg, and I still had reserve energy), but I slipped on one of those moss-covered parts of the concrete, and there was no way to get momentum to mount the bike. Hey, THE GRADE WAS 17%!!! (Bah! in the pictures, it looks like it can be done naman, right?!? That's how it is... but when you actually bike it, your legs are the ones that are screaming at you... then later on, it's legs and lungs.) In any case, I would have dismounted later on in the bike course, so this is pretty much how I looked half the time on the bike course. Heheh.

As per my Polar... this is the altimeter at work. I didn't calibrate it, but it gives you a basic idea. One axis is the altitude, and the other is the distance. I guess you can see the kinds of climbs we went through.

THAT's MY GATORADE!!! Original photo Copyright by Ricardo Ledesma. Ahhh... this picture shows where I wiped out. I was hugging the inside corner (so there was lots of room to escape), but there were "marbles" (sand, pebbles, etc) on the road, and I think I ended up hitting a rock and crashed here. That's my Gatorade on the asphalt. On another note, that is a nice view, isn't it?
