thanks rfgamboajr for sharing those kodak moments of the volt-in ride, i never knew that i will be able to ride this urban jungle called manila with my PinoyMTBiker brothers, and man, it's like having a puff of acapulco gold all over again kyusi riders sidney, ramon and kaneda started from jolibee-philcoa @0605 (we were to learn later that the contingent from nova area: rfjgamboajr, dino and jd00 together with plankton_dash will be arriving 10-15 minutes after we have left). with an excited and blistering pace we arrived at the baywalk-flagpole at around a few minutes before 0700 and there huddled is the group of fafarocky, anthrax and gadgets88 on one side and the D5R group of bertscout, micosabeh, omenxero and jafo on another side with their malooloofet na DJ and DH rigs, after the customary hi's hellos and introduction, the riders from different points started coming -in the organizer:hyperion with the master urban assaulter pasaway louie (who would later lead the pack to his jungle), MEG, the kyusi boys came in, then the group of cyborg with eikichi embedded with them and some other until the group count reach +20 volt-in riders. a little past 0800, jungle ride master pasawayL signalled the start of the assault that started from baywalk to CCP then roxas blvd (where our group became the early stragglers), luckily we were able to pick up jamis_joplin and astroboy along roxas blvd and proceeded to the next compression point , luneta, where we would finally be catching the main peloton coming from TM kalaw on their way to enter luneta grandstand, which at that time was filled to the rafters due to an ongoing CFC rally. the luneta grandstand ride was aborted and off we go to intramuros where we made an entry thru a small gate along bonifacio drive, seeing no guards around and feigning innocence the 29 PinoyMTBiker riders made urban assault history when they went up the infamous and original "WALL",..........err that of intramuros, i mean, and had their kodak moments until the guard came in "sorry po sir, akala po namin di bawal mag-bike dito" and we went down all smiling as we made mtb history hehehe. from intramuros another up-the-wall ride somewhere near mapua then city hall, ayala , marquez de comillas and paco park where a guard, at the gate entrance disallowed entry hehehe, kodak moments again and after luneta park, instramuros park and paco park off we went to sandara park ;D , UN ave., otis, then sa balwarte nila pasawayL and hype to take a leak, then to plaza dilao, quirino ave., quirino flyover, nagtahan, right to sta mesa's biglang liko area then the boundary of manila with san juan where we can see all the san juan "basa-an" left to sta mesa, right to gov. forbes, u-turn @gov. forbes then the sudden climb to the steep gov. forbes flyover and the nagtahan bridge (a real double whammy that's guaranteed to sap whatever remaining energy we have on a hot breakfastless morning) turning right to otis, it's time to re-group and re-assess.time check 1045, la mien opening time 1000, whoa! it's noodle time so the first group went ahead while the 2nd group of 9 riders stayed behind to wait for stragglers of the nagtahan double climb, after a while cyborg led the 2nd group to otis-marquez de comillas-sm manila -mehan garden-mcarthur bridge-sta cruz-gandara (where the xxxtreme norco mountaineer, charlie hooked-up)-nueva and finally la mien after the usual treat of beef la mien, steamed siomai, hot jazmine tea and one drumful of kwentuhan, the volt-in ride has finally ended. mondy came in with noodletown riders, mkeith and another 2 guys and they would later join the bunch of kyusi riders on their way home with UP oval as their destination. thanks to the organizer, hyperion, the hosts D5R peepz, the urban jungle trail master, pasawayL, noodletown riders, the kyusi volt-in riders (who know who you are) and all who volted-in to this Araw ng Maynila Volt-in Ride, a truly "historical" day for PinoyMTBiker so......when's the next one?

awesome pics there Ato and the usual ever-breath-taking writeup of sir arci which almost makes us feel like being there... awww... i miss my babies, este, not-so-newbies back then, hehe great to see master Pasaway there! i would imagine Huff and Puff [the Magic Dragon] propping up the scene sometimes, but in so well having the hot, scrumptuous noodles of La Mien in mind, i certainly know the legs overdid what the crank says keep it up! boss arnel, noodle part 3, il make sure you're on roster ;D

nice photos, thanks for sharing. especially the shots on top of the walls of intramuros. in fact, we did the same thing last sunday ( me, joseph, cesar & abet). thing was, upon riding down at the side of plm (pamantasan sa likod ng mapua? hehehe), a katipunero told us, "sir bawal ikaakyat ang bike!" hehehehe! curahee!
