On January 13, we decided to do a different bike outing. The plan is to trailride from Pak Tam Chung to Hoi Ha via Yung Shue O in Sai Kung then meet our hiking buddies in Wan Tsai Peninsula Camping Grounds and spend the night there. Pls. see the map, the route is the blue line. So we packed our bags with the bare camping essentials (about 10kgs of gear on each back) and off we go. It was about 16 degrees when we started pedalling and the sun is shining a bit. A lovely cold afternoon indeed, parang Baguio. Here's the photos: J_A_P..... and 'Bee' at the trailhead. Negotiating the narrow concrete path going to the first settlement... trail shot.... J_A_P stripping, it really get hot once you started pedalling... Rockies..... View from the trail.... The path to Yung Shue O crosses with Maclehose Trail (the 100 km trail we walked during the Trailwalker 2007 Charity Event)... At this point, we are 200m ASL. Descending to Yung Shue O Village.... Mangroove Area... Riding the coastal trail beyond Yung Shue O.... The sun is about to set.... Old houses along the trail... This village is being developed into a golf course.... Beyond the golf course, we still have about 5km of unknown trail ahead of us and it's getting dark. We were faced with another hike-a-bike section which is getting steeper and getting harder to negotiate with cleated shoes so we decided to back track and headed to the emergency exit point at Yung Shue O to Kei Ling Ha. We reached the road at around 7:30pm. To be continued.....

We managed to go around by taxi to Hoi Ha from Kei Ling Ha, we arrived at the village at around 8 pm. Ahead of us is the 'link' between Hoi Ha and Wan Tsai Peninsula, though ridable according to our buddies, it's a total unfamiliar terrain that we have to negotiate by "night riding" it. With a little help from our headlamps, we reached the campsite just in time for a lovely dinner. We then finally joined the hiking group of: titose, tagamakati and non-PinoyMTBiker kendy, teddy, jun, nato and uly and feasted on the food prepared by the group. We had 3 different kind of Longganisa (one kind is spicy), pasta, assorted roasted meat chinese style, assorted sushi, chicken pork adobo, fish, rice and bread. Yummmy!!!! After dinner, we gathered around the BBQ pit with a campfire and proceed with our drinks. Shots of tequila was passed around while the others go for the wine. Here's some photos: lots of firewood.... Our campsite.... J_A_P is getting ready for a spin... ....while the others are preparing breakfast.... PinoyMTBiker-HK version of Instant Noodles.... yuck! Chef Titose and chef Bee while being watched by Kendy and Tagamakati.... Breakfast time.... The bikes.... An early morning visitor.... Kendy and Titose.... J_A_P before leaving Wan Tsai Peninsula.... Reloading at Hoi Ha Village before the long grind to Sai Kung Town.... Resting after the third climb.... it's actually the 2nd major climb. J_A_P coming out of the third climb.... A lovely rest area... We made it to Sai Kung Town in 1 hr and 45mins and joined the group for lunch at Pepperonis. We had two kinds of pizza and baby back ribs with salad and then of course the most coveted drink after a ride, a cold bottle of beer. While waiting for our van service to bring us back to Hong Kong Island.... Titose and J_A_P... Bee with beer and J_A_P... J_A_P's classic smile.... First Class accomodation with reclining seats.... It was a blast!

Wowww! great pics and trails Banny and Jesse, I m almost sure to take you up on that offer to bike at HK with you guys I need to convince some other PinoyMTBiker peeps to join me Who s game ? 3days 2 nights is enough IMHO. Best to go there before March so its cool , right? PinoyMTBiker-HK some questions: 1. any "cheaP" (our standards not yours , bros) accommodations near your places? how much per night ? 2. which "usual trip package" hotels are near you / trail...would you recommend? I ll compare the costs : rent a pad & trip package ...and post it at MTB Discussions Excited !

@ Tofi, Doc Kate, yukon, pazigrider and Arci Thanks guys for your appreciation. @ bikefafa, the drinks are actually bitin, just enough to send us all to bed at around 12:30am. I only had wine coz we still have a long grind the next day. But the beer after the lovely lunch was awesome, sort of a great reward after ride, hehehe....

Alfafabol, Padi, Feb to March is perfect! 3 days of riding should be good enough, just forget about the shopping. ;D ;D ;D Try to get a good deal (fix-dated tickets) with PAL if you are bringing your bike, otherwise go for Cebu Pacific. As of now I have 3 bikes (all medium size, 2 geared and 1 single speed) to lend to whoever is coming. We can arrange some 'cheap' accomodation for you. Try to have Konan with you when you come over. Let us know of your plans asap so we can prepare. Banny
