I bought a maxxis 2.5 mobster DH tire last week for the rear of my echo.... And god it was heavy!!! I saw the 8.8kg thread here and got inspired... This is what i did to compensate for my heavy tire... awesome work. brad, how much weight did you lose? what was the weight, before and after? how much did it cost you to do this? looks awesome brad. i'd like to do it on my AM rig. do you think its possible to use it for AM applications once i do this on my rhinolite? TIA.

Nice Benjo, very nice. How much per rim? I got tired of drilling square holes on my rims hehe. I didn't drill my rear rim hehe Benjo please post it on our site awesome work. brad, how much weight did you lose? what was the weight, before and after? how much did it cost you to do this? looks awesome brad. i'd like to do it on my AM rig. do you think its possible to use it for AM applications once i do this on my rhinolite? nice....... it's look light now..... what size are those holes? ? shoti it's the same size as of a 25cents...( thats for the DX32... they did the decision for the rhinolyte) sir mountguitars; the DX32 wieghted over 900g... I shaved of almost half the weight... Pat It really cost me a lot, cause i had them do 2 rims, and i really didn't ask first bef i made them do it... but, it was worth it... The price for the DX32 is P20 per hole, they did 34 holes... come to think of it , i gues its just right... cause i really watch them do it... and to do it, you really have to perfect the measuring, and you have to drill 2 holes to get one big hole, and they really have to be really careful to it... they're good... And It took me about 6 machine shops to find it, cause nobody realy want's the job... for the Rhinolyte its P10/hole more cheaper cause smaller holes... all in all P680 for DX32 P340 for Rhinolyte P1020Joolz, just think how much weight the guys we watch on youtube is... Diba!?! ;D Thanks EveryOne...

Apol is right you can still drill the sides hehe, if you want you can drill it at my place I have a drill and some sharp bits.
Benjo seriously your tires are very heavy hehe. TRA is suggesting a shwalbe tire but don't know what and how much lighter it is but its in the range of 800+ grams.

thanks for heads up patrick. i'll stay away from making holes on my rims then, hehe. ;D But you still can put silver duct tape on them hahaha. If you don't do it you can still drill the inner wall of your rim if you want

question is, how much does it compromise the structural rigidity?

that's true. . . . does it takes the job of trials? Just asking. . . bout the impact capacity of the rim when you hit big gap or drop. . . but nice weight loss, just like an "after six diet" hehehehe

question is, how much does it compromise the structural rigidity? I guess it could survive the drops...there are rims that are designed like that..even bigger holes @ benjo - I thought it's P15 bucks on the other rim? hehehe I dropped by but no tawad daw. So I looked for other shop till I saw some alum/glass/iron etc. shop along Sampaguita St., Pembo, Makati City...Near OSMAK a block away after the Church...I can Accompany you if you wanna be drilled hehehe I did mine today but the holes are not that big I guess but it looks cool...hehe costs me 340 bucks for the pair...P5 epr hole..will post pix soon

question is, how much does it compromise the structural rigidity? It doesn't affect the stuff you need from it. Like pork without the fats hehe that's true. . . . does it takes the job of trials? Just asking. . . bout the impact capacity of the rim when you hit big gap or drop. . . but nice weight loss, just like an "after six diet" hehehehe Drilled rims are trials specific rims. Look at big guys like Damon Watson, Neil Tunnicliffe etc at youtube and look at the huge gaps they do and they land on concrete edges. Ofcourse it will eventually give way since they give huge amounts of force designed to destroy the rims hehe
