Who in PinoyMTBiker have been hurt going up or DOWN in the wall?
What happened?
How much did it cost you in medical bills?
How long needed to recuperate?
What rehab exercises needed?
Thank you!

I haven't experienced getting hurt in the wall but in AFP, I crashed there on the downhill part last october 2006?
It just happen that Im a bit fast and I am approaching on a hallow tire track and I apply my brakes but my wheel just keep on skiing even it stops then BANG! that's it.
Ey its been a year now! thanks to bikedaddy, qtcat and NVP for giving me first aid, pazigrider (for showing me a new training ground), and the rest of the folks during that ride.
By the way It just took me 1 or lets say two days to recover and 4 days for my wounds to heal. I just use agua oxinada for cleaning my wound and a wire gauze, just less than 100 petot.
Oh, by the way I remember that I feel my head hit my fork while crashing, it happens that I don't have elbow and knee pads. Atleast my head is still ok, I still manage to pedal way back home considering that Injury I have, even though that I have an amount of blood shed on my left arm.

This thread is a reaction to the accidents that occurred recently.
To prove a point that bikers, regardless of experience and skills, get hurt going downhill in Maarat, due to oncoming traffic, or defective gears or bad timing and decision or simply gravity!
$hit happens, folks.
Newbies need only to read and learn from the forums, and don't need to experience being hurt big time to know better!

hey gadgets.... i beg to differ from how you look at the sport....
DH is like learning the hardway... nothing here comes lightly brad.... you get faster the crashes get nastier....
Everybody gets hurt, its how you stand up and pick yourself up that matters.... from your own ashes n mistakes you build yourself to be a better and more learned rider, cuz from experience you measure what you can and cannot. but it does not make you lesser of a person to crash, it just teaches you what you can push and up to where you can prove yourself as a person.
Trans: ano ba kaya mo at hangang saan mo kaya bitbitin itlog mo?
If you get hurt dont btch dont squat , just get up and show em what your made off.... walang masakit kung mahal mo ginagawa mo......everybody gets hurt, iv been knocked out for years....
principle: get hurt? falldown? stand up again and dont quit. pride, respect and glory never feeds your curiousity it only fuels passion!
just instill in your mind: you are what you make of yourself.
i know i talk about crashes and spills too much, but thats the only way to learn. if you get hurt cuz your tryin to figure out what to do... all you have to do is ask and awareness and knowledge os half the battle...............
know your enemy and you would have nothing to fear.

during the time when DH was still new... pain was irrelevant to us..... we would cross finish lines with broken stuff on our bodies, but training taught us to fall down and feel the pain when you cross the finish line............. you crash, you get hurt, you @#$% or pee in your pants but you feel all that when you get home.... after the finish line you can squirm like a worm and scream like a btch..... but when you ride, pain is only what you can see and feel.

learn from the forums and feed your fear>? not your curiousity?
DH and gravity riding is a practice...... its not something you read and just learn.....
Extreme riding is not about getting hurt cuz your insane, thats called ignorance and stupidity.] Extreme is riding beyond the envelopes of what is deemed normal and learning through that experience....

yeah! enough talk, ride nalang ng ride! Seriously, were all old enough to be responsible for ourselves.. Risks come along with this sport/hobby. A friendly reminder is enough. I myself would'nt limit myself to 15kph going down the wall.. i still want to perfect attacking both deadly curves, the way i do it on my motorcycles. Yeah.. goodluck to me.

In the 90's Rode the maarat wall when it was still an "OFF ROAD" !
your don't get hurt climbing the wall we push up our dh bike
and ride it down
It was "mahuli may u-o sa butt" type of riding, "
I was fun hehehehehh
first one to arrive on the sari sari store along the road maarat.
it "was a legit downhill trail" with the famous notorious S curve which claimed several riders!
NOW I dont ride there anymore heehehehhe its cemented!
and it will just wear my STICK E knobbies sayang.

hahahaha..... i remember that era very well hahahah.... GT STS n RTS bikes on judy XL or manitou xvert R/T set-ups ruled the day... hahaha... wala pang trixxter noong panahon na yun!
Canondale super Vs and Fastrax DH bikes were the bikes for DH riders back then, buhay pa si jake noon at si Ian! hahahaha.... we were actually still riding that trail even when they were paving and concreting the timerland area.... ahahaha
And yes i remember when i suddenly cramped out on the road side going home and all of you dropped omega on my groin intenionally! hangang ngayon tinatandaan ko yun! may araw din kayo lahat sakin! hahahahahha
It was Cielito Camba n yetiman who first brought me there...... heheeh.... andun pa ba yung laruan ng MX sa likod? sinemento na rin ata yun eh........ heheheh
before it smelled like a land fill in maarat( technically it is i think!) but it was the nearest vs tagaytay, now its all subdivisions and real state hehehe..... no more funny smell just illegal quarrying..... ahahahah!

bender, wow man! memories! I have mix emotions when i see mtbikers stoked climbing up and bombing down the paved WALL. I'm eager to tell tales of it 8 to 10 yrs. ago when it was one of the best. Dami na kumalat and bumili ng lupa dyan! And I know you owned a lot! We had it open titled kaya it was "owned" by others lately. It was where Pistol Pete Loncaravich ( KHS Pro-dher ) and Terry Tennet ( BMX champ/PARKPRE DHer) wreck-tested the Marzocchi Bomber Z1! ( Wala kayo sa LOLO ko!) They were sponsored by Marzocchi to go here to be the wrecking crew of the new fork! ( God I'm old! ) C/o Velo City, we had the week long sleepless-weed assisted-nights with these lunatics! We also brought them to Ridge 1 and urban riding in makati, played midnight basketball in front of the old Cristy bikeshop and had nights to tattoings in cartimar! Thanks for memories chong! Old timer ka na talaga! ;D

di ah! i was still new when pistol pete came here hehehe.... "open-title" = the state where in you buy pre-owned real-estate(trans: bili ka lupa habang maaga kasi mura pa, as in mapapamura ka hahaha, then later sell it to the next buyer at his own expense!).. the old Z-1 with the QR20 sleeve yan di ba? hahahaha..... naka DNM pa lang ako nun papa! hahahaha
let the good times roll... haha

hey gadgets.... i beg to differ from how you look at the sport.... DH is like learning the hardway... nothing here comes lightly brad.... you get faster the crashes get nastier.... Without forethought, I created this thread in The DOWHILL RUSH. After your enlightening explanation (Thank you), I realized I made a wrong entry, this thread is more suited in the SAFETY section. I was not cautioning bikers who take the DHill discipline as a sport, I was cautioning riders who bomb down Maarat who are not DH apprentices, do not have DH bikes, don’t have knowhow in DH, don’t even have the proper brakes. I am cautioning these young weekend bikers (like me), who are just excited to ride when time permits, And therefore susceptible to danger due to lack of familiarity of proper body English maneuvers and familiarity on the sudden sharp curve. We caution bikers from bruising or possibly maiming themselves, Without the glory of learning anything in the process. Anyway, keep on sharing your experiences, So that whose not in the DH sport will still learn a lot of valuable lessons why we get hurt, what to do when we get hurt, what to do while recuperating, what to think and how to push ourselves toward greatness!

@ gadgets "We caution bikers from bruising or possibly maiming themselves, Without the glory of learning anything in the process."
..... now your starting to sound like me... hehe... as much as we love to do what we do, we try to keep the sport very orienting too other riders who would like to indulge in such said activities.
Preparation is heavier than precaution, ika nga heheeh.... two thumbs up!
