A shawn H-3 with DNM will cost 23 to 25k, but the price can go high depending on the suspension. I don't consider a 20+K bike a budget frame. However, it is the only reliable FR/DH frame that is realistically attainable. What you can do is look for any good condition 2nd hand frames, check the buy and sell page of this site from time to time for new deals.
a Zokee jr. T is probably what you need. the goes for under 12K, 2nd hand.

uglyjoe, If you re really on a tight budget (who isnt? ) , go for the hucker setup....DJ HT + 7 inch trav fork....that is if you have the limber body and the skills for it Get an inexpensive Da Bomb XLR8 or similar Dirtjump frame + spend for a nice fork like the Drop-Off or a Jr. T (as mentioned) ....get 2nd hand items only from reliable sellers...there are many who bought DH parts but cant do the DH ride You ll spend maybe : P6000 for the Frame used + P9500 for the fork used = P15500 [ plus your current gear] spend on tough rims like Fatboy or Sun Single Tracks or Rhinolites...tires are cheap here spend some on your stem and handle bar...honestly the Amoebas are plenty tough...The Scott fake stems are built like tanks..honestly...Best budget DH stem for me are the Jamis OEM clamps BTW P250 ata

The above reply is for a DH setup
if its a Fr setup...........sorry but you gotta spend for the frame to do the >6 ft drops needed before its called Freeride
DNM rear shocks on nice single-pivot frames like Coyote are ... competitive rigs already
make sure to have at least 7 inches of travel at both front and back
Add about 9K to my previous estimate
Hope this helps

u could find a trixxter 2nd hand from 10k-15k DNM included........ go drop-off triple crown.... if its entry level it would do just hav hermie take out the spiking action of the drop-off ull be fine.... brakes go deore hydraulic cuz avid cables will be quite costly cuz beginners tend to use the brakes too much.....
actually replacing the rear shock with a newer model of the DNM burner might ease the technical hits a little bit...... but as they say DNM= Did Not Move ....lol
of u can find a world-class DH-racing frame over at Trixx bike shop ..... its an old 98 Fastrax F-3 this was actually a standard issue frame sa RP team b4.
Iv actually raced in one of these F3s...... i give it an 8 for racing n 7 for freeriding..... very sturdy n the handling characteristics of this F3 with a properly tuned boxxer fork can slug it out with the newer bikes n with the Pros...... i know i did ..i placed 4th on an F3 tahts why! eheheheheh
Its kinda old school if u look at it ...but try riding one first ... i pretty sure it'll change your initial analysis of this bike......... if ur into speed runs and technical handling this bike will suit u well.....
just dnt try to hit massive air time on it too much...... try riding with a lower flight profile( i mean: try throwing urself forward on them jumps instead of pulling upwards).
* the mongoose talon isnt a balanced bike.... and the DNM volcano is not very dependable fork either.... if ur gna spend ..u myt as well spend once n use it for a long period ...instead of buying n changing n wasting all ur money........
a 2nd hand boxxer or a bnew Drop-off triple crown(properly tuned) would work pwetty well....................
The Shawn H3 is a taiwan "Asterisk" bike....... its tubes are too heavy.... the linkage isnt too fluid.... altho rear wheel tracking n stability at high speeds are good(Thats actually the whole "Moto-link" concept....duh!)..........
the Extension bikes from Ross are actually azonic bikes........... u myt wana look at em if u want a bombproof bike that never goes out of style n functionality too......

I think the black bike in the middle below looks like an F3 with upgraded shock giving 7" travel and still in perfect condition. RP team standard issue to Jing Leongson. Selling for only P30K complete bike with Mrz. Jr.T.

try to hang around dh oriented bike shops and fellow riders,
wait for their hand me downs, bargains, sale, slightly uised parts and acessories
always check and inspect before buying 2nd hand parts,
look for hairline cracks(frame), hidden under that powder coat? scratches stress riser (handle bars), dents if major or not, leaking busted fork, shocks, unless u can repair it.
mostly from riders who retired (critically injured), quit, migrated, in financial trouble (need money for their children's enrollement), those who wake up one day and realize dh/fr is not their thing and not fun anymore.
buddy's current 2nd hand rig is from rider who quit after major face plant, need to stitch up the face.
were ur full face always, you cannot replace your face at your local bike store.

looks like an F2 to me....yung black bike in the middle because i noticed the rear shock, i've got an F2 before and F3 DH naman ang rig ko ngaun...YUP! it really is dependable coz i got a championship(beginners) trophy, twice in 3rd place(novice), and also two 5fth place(novice) in downhill races here in mindanao...look at the pic, F2 yan, may resemblance diba? here's an F3 naman, notice the rear shock anyway goodluck pre!
