Has anyone tried a wing shaped drop bar, specifically the FSA k-wing? I went to roadbikerreview.com and they were just nuts about it, but I'd rather hear it form pinoy bikers. More credibility.

a friend of mine sold his. his differed from the fsa ones in that there were no holes for interior cable routing. there weren't even channels in it to hide the cables under the tape. another downside was that you can't clamp aero bars on them because of the flat section on top. just in case you also plan to join the road race series that also have itt or ttt events.

my second hand bike came with an aluminum FSA k-wing bar and I like them. I ride with my hands on the top of the bar more often than on the drops and my right hand used to go numb on traditional round bars. I was probably pinching a nerve in my hand, but the winged bar took care of my problem. it spreads the pressure over a wider area... definitely more comfortable on long rides. I recommend them.

I prefer to use the FSA control center to hold my light. Also, the K-wing bar is oversized... so you'll need the right size stem if you don't already use one. www.fullcycles.com/images/fsa-control-center.jpg

I finally got the FSA K-wing carbon. I spent the better part of today installing it, I'm still struggling my FD & RD adjustment though. Here are some pics:

that carbon bar sure is sweeeet! puts my aluminum k-wing to shame.
have you taken it on a long ride yet and felt the comfort of the flat section. it's such a big improvement in ergonomics that i'm surprised the design didn't emerge many years ago. My wish list for better comfort is a grip system for the drop portion of the bars. Flattening that section of the bar would make ergonomic sense.

Then I'll tell you how it feels. But it does look sweet.

oh, 181$? forget the carbon... bo, how much the alu k-wing? my bad, the alu version is called "wing pro" not k-wing. the best price I've seen lately is $60. actually $181 is a good price for the carbon version.

ah ok. made me rethink... i won't be able to use clip-on aero bars if i used wing type handlebars.

ah ok. made me rethink... i won't be able to use clip-on aero bars if i used wing type handlebars. deda has synapsi. its an integrated stem, bar and aerobars (although a bit on the short side). it's wing type and carbon too. but MSRP i think is $500, although ebay has them for around $350.

i finally had the chance to try the k-wing. o my goodness, all drop bars should have this design. for the average roadie who would be in an upright position most of the time, this bar makes much more sense, way much more comfortable than the regular rounded bars. my hands weren't begging to be changing positions every so often. verdict: wing bars are highly recommended, regardless if it's carbon or aluminum.

iam currently using control tech all carbon handle bar. it's very comfortable to use lalo na pag nas "wings' ang mga kamay mo. less pressure ika nga, lalo na pag uphill..last time i use the bar by ITM kaso i find it quite "crimpy" kaya i switch over to control tech. parehas lang naman sila ng timbang and size kaso magkakatalo sa comfort..
