Clinics for women who are interested in cycling for fun, fitness or competition. Learn everything, from what type of bike to ride for your goals to how to get involved in your first race! Participate in on-the-bike skills and ike-handling sessions to make your riding more fun and safe!
Session 1a: Cycling 101
Date: Saturday, April 1, 2006
Time: 8am to 12:30pm
Place: Club Six-Fifty- 150 E.Rodrigues Jr. Ave. (next to Eastwood)
Session 1b: Advancing Skills
Date: Saturday, April 29, 2006
Time: 8am to 12:30pm
Place: Riverbanks - Marikina
Fee: P50 per clinic
Activities:
* Cycling Seminar
* On-the-bike skills training and practice
* Skills Contest
* Raffles and Power Make-over
Some topics covered:
* stretching exercises
* fitting for your bike
* ergonomics and kinetics of cycling
* flat tire and emergency repairs
* balancing, slow riding, cornering
* up-hill climbing and sprinting
* braking, avoiding obstacles
* down-hill riding
* choosing the proper clothing
* riding strategies and shifting
* and much more!
What to bring: Your bike (if you have one), comfortable clothing, (or
whatever you normally wear to ride in), running shoes, towel
What to expect: The clinic will include both lecture/discussion and "on the bike" drills. You should plan being on and off your bike quite a bit for the drills. The emphasis of the drills is on skill building, not fitness or a workout.
