Anyone have or tried any of the following brakes? Im gonna upgrade my CODA Disc (works perfectly fine) into one of the following hydraulic disc brake set. Any recommendations?
AVID Juicy 7 Hayes Disc (El Camino) XTR Magura Marta SL
Its going on a FS XC bike. I want to make a purchase by this weekend and hoping to get feedbacks base on your experience or knowledge.
My current Disc works perfectly fine but since Im going through a major upgrade (Cranks, Shifters, Derails, Handle bar/ Stem, Wheels) I may as well upgrade my brakes.
thanks guys

Check out Jan 06 issue of MBACtion, where they have a shootout of the above brakes. All have good reviews and MBAction couldn't rank them 1-4 . . . but if they had to pick a best overall, it would be the Magura Marta SL

They are all great! Since you're in a major full upgrade, why not try a full xtr group? or XT or even LX since you're planning a FS XC. Grouppo for compatibility.

But MBaction said that if the XT matched the Magura's weight, winner sya. Notably, the two winners use mineral oil instead of DOT Brake fluid. Hmmm.

Hi Bernie, My bike came originally (OEM) with XTR and LX components. (so Im 1/2 way there I may go full blown XTR's if I dont go with SRAM X.0 or My upgrade wish list are: SRAM X.0 shifters and derails or stick with XTR's FSA Team Issue/ Truvativ Stylo Crank or Race Face Deus. Brakes (still deciding) Mavic Crossmax SL' FSA and Easton Handlebar/ stem Cobym, thanks for the heads up. The Magura SL being the lightest is a + but how well does it stop compared to the others (modulation etc?). Its almost 2am here and Im losing sleep, cant wait to get the issue in the morning ;D thanks again guys. This is actually the bike I fell in-love with. www.helenscycles.com/fly.aspx?layout=productdetail&productid=55&taxid=310

Hi Jr, I want that bike pero with property taxes and the holidays coming up, I'll have to pass. Instead I'll just upgrade my components for now (so I can get motivated to ride more often and be like you ;D). I can always sell the parts in the future and get my dream bike Can you check out that bike and tell me what you think? I'll be sure and buy you lunch when your up here You live close to Helens? Wow, how do you like their store. I bought my previous Road Bike from them (Online no taxes ;D). Jr, what do you think of the cranks? Truvativ, Race Face or FSA? Im looking for light/ stiff and durable. thanks everyone for all the feedbacks, I'll make the purchase by friday

I regards to the crank..I have the raceface next LP but used to given me lots of shifting problem on my 5.5. So far seems ok to a less travel bike (my fuel). I use shimano most of my crank and they are reliable. Good luck for the upgrading..seems like you really coming back to MTB .

After receiving many positive feed backs. The lightest weight, very strong stopping power, Mineral Oil (Royal blood) and not to mention the sexiest brakes out there ;D ....I've placed my order on the "Magura Marta SL". thanks to all that replied
