ano ba ang difference ng road cogs sa mtb? Just the number of teeth sir, some DH bikes uses road cogs (teka ang cogs ba casette?). If you do strength training, climbing steep inclines with 1:2 ratio is easy, so in this case 44T : 22T will be used for climbing pero syempre DH bikes dont climb that steep pagdating sa pababa mataas ang ratio plus less chain length and less chain slap. I went 9 speed because of the lighter weight of the system, wala naman tayo choice sa 8 speed kundi older models or yung mabigat.

No is a DVD ;D ;D...well said. you can use road cassette(cogset) in MTB. The 9 spd road and MTB are compatible ;D. I seen a rider using road cassette to his XC bike.

rickyM is correct. rapid rise is available to both trigger shifters and the dual control levers. i guess the name of this thread should've been trigger shifters versus dual control levers.
joes is correct. kung mahal ang DCL, then go for triggers. tagal na ng triggers eh and no complaints so far. and besides, i think everyone can shift and brake at the same time coz i know i can. but to be honest, nag aantay din ako ng deore '06 na DCL. kung ok yung price at dehins malayo sa triggers, i might try it. who knows, it might make a whole world of difference.
peachy is correct. screw shimano if they're gonna make a 10-cassette cogset for a mountainbike. 8 lang pwede na eh. and besides, added weight pa yung pang 10 na cassette. maybe shimano should go back to the 8-speed setup para gumaan yung bike. mas simple at less complicated because the spaces between cassettes are wider and thus, shifting is more precise and significantly eliminates ghost shifting.
i think its all just marketing strategy. wala na kasing mapuntahan yung research and development nila eh. without innovation, folks will stay with the old stuff they have and if this happens, sales will drop.
