imho, hone and holz are equally durable. but hone is a bit lighter though. im also using shimano outboard bearing and i think its quite bombproof despite its appearance of almost half inch thick (each side). either way is a good choice.

i like to try the HONE too, magaan kasi. but my holzfeller+gigapipe combo took a lot of thrashing from me and is really tough! medyo mabigat nga lang but really really durable! so based on experience i recommend the holz!
@ chaton : you might want to try raceface diabolous or prodigy as well. equally tough as your choices, even more perhaps (especially the diabolous)
either way brad u'll be fine ;D

isn't the HONE exactly the same as '05 Deore LX? Only difference is color? I think they got one at All Terra selling for 4.5k.
I have the LX, light and stiff with it's integrated BB

My outboard bearings started creaking after about 3-4 (mostly dry) months. i'm a really light rider... that thing should last me a lot longer than that. I repacked it and is now kinda quiet again.
Anyways, spoken to my LBS and the concensus is that RF isn't that great w/ their specs on bearings. When the time comes I will replace it w/ Shimano BB. It's compatible.

^^ outboard is still the way to go but if you're spec'ing @#$% bearings well design isn't going to save you. RF do have a good name... people right away think they are strong, that's why i bought one. I liked the Saint better actually but I thought if both cranks being equal I would support the local (and smaller) company here... so I went w/ RF. Too bad their bearings aren't performing well. my experience anyways. ...plus i'm a sucker for machined/anodized parts.

Im using a Hussefelt DH with the Giga Pipe Dh on my Kona Stab, happy with it naman had a bad experience thu noong first few weeks, after my buddies used my Rig Jumping 8 to 9 footers to Flatland i was un aware na it loosened pala, when the time came na ako na gagamit, i was pedalingl when the crank with the chainring feel off as i kicked up standing on an uphill portion Kakahiya. I noticed some chips on the Spline of my Crank arm pero as of today Check up na lang once in a while to tighten it pra cgurado On my other FS ( Giant AC ) am using Holzfeller two chainring and Bash Combo on a Giga Pipe Team DH ( 4 Bearings sya ) So far so good naman. What I like about this Truvativ is the Stiffness. What i dont like naman is madaling magasgas ang Black coating sa Crank arms, namuti agad side nya in just a few rides

Keep on practicing brad ang Galing mo kaw ang isa sa mga WonderBoy ng DH dito satin

ok so u guys are recommending cranks that falls off... eventually. falling cranks are not normal...
btw, once they start having this issue it will keep doing this. means the ISIS interface is no longer tight. i would place the removable blue loctite on the crank BOLT and not on the actual ISIS splines.
yup you're suppose to grease that area because the splines actually tapers so basically as you tighten the bolt the interface fits tighter.... but if you have been riding it while it was loose u may (or most likely) have done some damage to the fit. jumping 9 footers (to flat?) w/ a loose crank... well i think you should be able to visually see some damage on the splines. check the crank side.
most finishing will not last that long on cranks amrs. it's getting rub'd twice per rotation... w/ dirt in between your soil and the crank acting as sandpaper.

well actually if you did not set up your cranks right (as for other cranks too) there is a tendency to ruin your cranks or even the bottom bracket (which is usually the case on the shimanos) so if you set it up right then you don't have any more cranks falling off!!!!!
you got me!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
