Hey guys, anybody owns/uses the new re-designed Deore (2005 or 2006 model?) hubs/DBs. I think it's the M495. Are they any good? The NEW design's hubs have cup and cone bearings and an internal grease sleeve system that increases service life. Also available in black and in silver, with and without Center Lock (like in LX, XT and XTR) rotor mount system and in 32 and 36 spoke holes versions. I'm a bit confused coz the 05 gruppo (from shimano's site) doesn't have this feature yet but the 06 does. what's odd is that the 05 locally available have the centerlocks already. what gives? here's a pic of the 06 deore with new centerlocks (right most side) and new dual control shifters (upper right)

I'm a bit confused coz the 05 gruppo (from shimano's site) doesn't have this feature yet but the 06 does. what's odd is that the 05 locally available have the centerlocks already. what gives? here's a pic of the 06 deore with new centerlocks (right most side) and new dual control shifters (upper right) M495. These are the centerlock hubs King's (Jane) recommended when I said I wanted my bike to be "disc-ready" but rim brakes muna. They do look like non-series to me, kasi they don't proudly wear "Deore" markings on them. So far, so good in terms of performance--I don't carry the look and weight of the 6-bolt attachment (looks almost like non-DB hubs) while I'm still agonizing over the decision between Shimano (value) or Avid (performance). Perhaps they were first officially released as OEM (2005) to bike manufacturers, pero they managed to get into the aftermarket channels dito sa Asia via "backdoor" channels kaya 2005 gruppo here have these feature but it's not officially in the Shimano site until 2006? For instance, in 2005 this Trek 4500 already has the M495 as Original Equipment: www.trekbikes.com/bikes/2005/mountain/4500.jsp
