There's one in my LBS for P5100. I know this is already for 9-speed but do you happen to know if it has also an 8-speed version? I've searched the net and all were for 9 speeds. I tried shifting it and there were 8 clicks. So 9 right? Hehehe sorry for the ignorance. I have a 9-speed LX shifter here and there were 8 clicks also. I just wanna make sure before buying it. The store owner is not sure too but he mentioned that it's for 8 only. Is the price reasonable enough?
Thanks for any inputs.

brad, I tried looking up the shimano specs sheets for SL-M952 8 speed, but all I come up with from parts list and ongoing sale for this model are all 9 speeds. I assumed this is the model prior to the dual control M960 series, then this comes with 9 speed only shifters.

Trabunco,
Dude, the m952s are for the mega 9 setup. The m951s are for 8-speed system. So if your current LX has the mega 9 logo, the former will be perfect.

Price? Got the m951 shifter pod for 4K about two years ago (NOS). Haggle pa if possible. Medyo three years old na yang model na yan. If it's a consolation, it'll be a very good buy.

guys thanks for the inputs. yeah it's already confirmed that it has 9 speeds. i went to this certain LBS this afternoon and the pods have a mega9 logo. nah haggling more would be next to impossible. me and my big mouth. i was fiddling with their stocks earlier and i thought they have only one pair. to my surprise, there was another one. a bigger surprise when there was a P5995 written all over the plastic and someone said that the lesser price was a mistake. grrr... there goes my P5100. but guys i've checked from mtbr that getting a sram rocket trigger shifter would be more practical when it comes to the price and maybe or at par with the m952's performance. too bad 'cause the sram distributor here in cebu doesn't have the stock and i'm pretty sure that you don't have there too in manila...

Trabunco,
Don't know for sure kung dealer ng Sram products ang Extreme dito sa Manila. But they do have a lot of the aforesaid brand on their shelves. Check and ask about the Rocket. If not, may I recommend the x.9 impluse trigger shifters. The number is 3737100.
Goodluck sir.

thanks gavinchie. The x.9 is a good shifter and that's the one i'm using right now on my weekend bike. it's a 1:1 actuation ratio type so you need to have an x.9 too for your rd. i'm looking for the rocket 'cause you can use it with a shimano rd.
