magura and hope are expensive, if you can find em. Am on a tight budget. hayes are a bit pricey also.
Anyway, got the deores na. Needed some adjustment upon installation. (washers/spacers). so far, have done one road ride. Feel ok. Not yet broken in. Will update on any developments.

Deore hydros are o.k very affordable and easy to maintain stoping power depends on how you install it the secret is, use an old used prepaid card for the spacing of the pads between the rotor.

i still preffer the mechanical, mahirap kasi kapag naputulan ka ng cables sa trail. talahib lang pwede mo nang i dugtong. sa hydro kailangan mo pa ng oil

A bit grabby up front, but strong as hell. Even my hayes equipped buddies say its really strong. The rear dragged a bit before until I learned a setup secret. (Loosen the caliper bolts till its wobbly. Then with the wheel on, have someone squeeze the brake lever. While brake engaged, tighten the bolts. Guaranteed no drag!)
So far, have no major problems with these brakes. Have not had my hoses break or leak so far. (knock on wood) Had to change rear pads though when oil accidentally got to them. When they get drenched, they will squeak very bad. And they take a long while to dry. Sometimes, next day na mawawala ang squeak. Maybe the metallic pads will be better in the wet, if I can find any.

Deore Hydros have a high rate of approval on most of MTB riders who doesnt care much of its weight. But for weight junkies and price is not an issue....Maguras
