am seriously considering any of these HT frames: Giant XTC TRek 8500 or Specialized Stumpjumper (2nd hand; Gulliver's, if it still available) I tried the XTC and its nice and light. Anyone tried the Trek 8500 hardtail frame? Its around the same weight and same price as a Giant XTC ht (a little cheaper pa ang TRek). REviews in MTBR.com are about the same. I havent seen anyone riding it on trails yet, as opposed to the Giant XTC, nagkalat. The stumpy is the lightest of the bunch, and most expensive too, even 2nd hand. I have no doubt this is a real performer. Yun lang nga, 2nd hand. Seriously considering any of these three frames.

Hehe, I'm trying to decide on an XC HT frame as well. Add the KHS Alite 4000 to the choices, too!
If I'm not mistaken, the Trek 8500 is slightly heavier than the XTC.
Today, I'm leaning towards getting an XTC. Since they're so common, I figure I should be able to score a 2nd hand one cheap.
I've seen Gulliver's stumpy. It's really nice, but aside from the current asking price (worth more than a new 8500), I'm not too sold on the color. YMMV.

all good frames. but IMO the stumpy m4 is the best of the bunch and is worth the price. the question really is... does it fit you? it ain't worth it if it doesn't fit you.
my 2 cents

the power transfer on a stumpy is much, much better than an XTC...plus no flex at the BB. point & shoot steering on a singletrack, the stumpy wins hands down i think ;D have never tried the trek 8500 so i can't compare

chris king is too expensive... although gwapo. Why not a new cane creek s6? just use the xtra money on other parts that would make it improve it's performance and/or shave some weight. Stylo cranks (since you already have isis splined bb) The Avid db is good. handlebar if you haven't upgraded the one from the horse yet. XT cassette, way lighter than the one on the x.7. Sp roll x's, unless you like the Krakens All in all, your ride is turning into one heck of an xc racer.
