Of course.. if you have money get the XT compare to LX. The difference between the two is weight and the other could be tolerance. I mentioned tolerance cause could be a factor on shifting. Is not as crisp compare to XT. But again this is only assume because I have both XT and XTR crackset on my bikes but I could not tell the difference except the price . For sure weight is the difference though. Did I comfussed you.

I have an XT and LX. Hmmmm let me weight them? XT is a lil bit lighter of course but when it comes to shifting, LX is great, even RC of MBaction is convinced that it is one of the smoothest shifting component in the market.
Kaso, XT still has it's rank! hehehehehhe

I saw Hone crankset selling at All Terra for 5.5k. I think it came from a Merida bike

I'd get these beauties . The Shimano "06 Deore" will have "XTR features @ Deore prices". Shimano Deore FC-M530 Crankset. Totally re-designed for 06 combining XT and LX technologies for a stronger, stiffer crank. The HOLOWTECH crankarms are lighter without sacrificing rigidity or strength. Compatible with OCTALINK bottom bracket. 44-32-22T. wt:686g. MSRP $99.99 on sale now $84.99

just my 2 cents........
LX '03 and LX '05 cranks are almost of the same weight with one major difference: the bb is integrated on the crank for the LX '05 but for the '03 LX crank its using an octalink BB which is separate from the crank. so why go for the integrated BB? less moving parts means lesser weight to move around which results to easier or lesser effort in pedalling. but right now, just switching to an LX '03 crank from deore '03 crank has made a big difference just by shaving almost 170 grams in weight on the crank and bb combined (which i just did recently). imagine what a crankset with integrated bb will do? hmmm.........
