i've decided na stick na muna ako sa 8sp set-up (mixed actually) but i realize that i need to upgrade my cassette.
any feedback sa 8sp power glide II series ng SRAM (PG-830 and PG-850 yata) like how much and saan meron? or kahit yung kasama sa group set ng 5.0 and 7.0? bihira kasi ako makakita ng SRAM cassettes (8 sp) sold separately eh.
2nd question: how does the powerglide/PG II (11/32) series compare sa shimano megarange? (11/34) - in terms of performance, weight, price, durability, efficiency sa climbs or whatever

Storm, a friend of ours was able to get SRAM cogset (9-speed nga lang) from Extreme for 1K+, dont know the exact model but you can buy it without the groupset. ;D
Performance?, no complains so far, he's using his bike sa adventure racing as in LAGI.
SRAM is recognized for the big jump on teeth number on its 9-speed....28 to 34. Many users they dont care, its the 34 they needed most called it "life saver".

warlock,
ang SRAM wala silang megarange type na 8sp cassette (as in 11/34 or 12/34) tama ba? am ok with the 11/32 bit anyway. gavinchie told me he got his 8sp cogset for P700 sa extreme. couldn't find too many 8sp SRAM cassettes.
nung una i was hoping na makahanap din ng 34 teeth na cog lang but can't seem to find any. have no experience pa sa 34 teeth eh...is it really a 'life saver' compared to the 32t?

Megarange is 11/13/15/17/20/23/26/34 , AFAIK SRAM never produced this kind a setup neither did Sach I guess. Their current line up for 8-spd is still up to 32T only. Dunno it there will be much difference, never tried 32T yet, just the Megarange 7 speed with 34T cog. It helps a lot on uphills alright. If have the time you run the gear calculator in Sheldon Brown to spot the difference in gain ratios, using the 44/32/22 chainring & load custom gears by putting 32T & 34 side by side ;D
