This is a roof-mounted bike rack from Thule which i bought about a year ago. It's fork mount is designed to accommodate forks w/ disc-brake calipers. www.thuleracks.com/thule/product.asp?dept_id=8&sku=590I was happy with it till the fork-mount locking mechanism jammed after about 6 months of regular use. the adjustment wheel just stopped turning and i couldn't secure the lock! good thing the very nice people at Thule Ortigas showroom replaced the part at no charge at all. All went well till last week, when the same fork-locking mechanism froze up again! Darn, good thing i had straps to load my bike in the bed of my pick-up. so i brought it back to Thule, and expressed my frustration and disappointment. Again, they did not let me down, and graciously offered to replace the whole Velo Vise Pro carrier with their '04 Big Mouth XTR model, for an additional 200+ pesos only! ;D ;D ;D What a deal! I grabbed it and looks like i have a much better bike rack than before. Will see how it holds up after some use. Bottom Line: The Velo Vise Pro was a good rack...when it worked. Solid mounting and good looks. But the two failures of the fork-lock system were a big disappoint ment for a rack that costed me over PhP 6k. Recommendation: Find a more reliable model in the Thule line or of other makers.

hmm.... you know sir ted that kind of after market courtesy is kinda rare these days. a lot of other people would probably just simply shrug and say that it was probably something you did, and then not know what next to do. but they didn't i guess they returned it to the manufacturer for repair/reconditioning, now that's going to be paperwork!! but as they were willing to go through with it to keep a customer happy.... i'd seriously consider going there myself when the time comes when i got a car to mount the bike on too ;D i checked out the thule site and your new rack looks mean ;D ;D albeit one itsy bitsy question.... your mounting the entire bike this time right? without removing any wheels.... good thing your bike is light coz you're carrying your baby all the way to the top of your Ranger...
