guys got a problem and need some help... until recently i had been looking for a rim that would suit my weight but at the same time not limit my runs... used to consider the 223's and da bomb rims.... but it turns out the 223's would not take my weight ( took my cue from atomik coz he's using these on his kona and it couldn't handle him... and i'm even heavier than mike) da bombs are too heavy for xc as it is too burly... so i looked up the mavic line and found a rim that has the strength but light enough for me... the mavic 321's. i checked it out at the net and it is rated as the mtbreviewers choice rim.... so i scooted around here and there.... all terra, powerbikes, speedgear, kings, paulina's, and even newton... they're completely out of stock!!!! but i was finally able to find one last pair in cartimar... but it is overpriced by 800 bucks! i tried to ask for tentative delivery dates but all of the other stores told me that new stocks might arrive by january or february... and without any assurance that it would be included in the inventory. so the problem is this.... do i wait for the other shops to receive their deliveries in 2 months or more... or just go the hell with it and get it even if it is over priced. newtons price is 1,600 per.... the last pair is priced at 2 k per.....

if you need it now, and want it, get it and bargain the hell for it ;D otherwise exercise patience...the new deliveries may come in a better color...321 is medyo heavy ha

P2K/rim? better get the 517 (P1.8K ea) like gulli's or add a li'l more and get the DT XR4.1 like mine and eboy's. lightweight but very tough! am pretty sure that i'm heavier than you but even with my weight, these can take a beating. eboy has his for 2 years already (or so he says) and he has yet to true them. same thing with mine which i have for a few months now.

like staind said, 517s very tough and light...and surprisingly water can't seem to get into the tire w/ these rims. no discernible flex. got them from newton's my old 223's would leak water too easily, and flexed w/ my weight at 194 lbs. staind got his awesome DT xr4.1 rims from Dan's Bike shop in Bacolod. tel: (34) 433-7823 or 435-3633 he comes to town often and his Makati shop opens next week i think probably would have gotten those (disc version) if i knew they existed before

forgot to mention, mura and matibay din ang sun rhynolites. my preference would be... 1. DT XR4.1 -- most expensive in this list, light, no immitations yet, rare (i.e. u don't see a lot of bikes with them on yet) 2. Sun RhynoLites -- cheapeast and heaviest in this list, best value 3. Mavic 517 -- mid-priced, light but be careful of immitations, there are a lot of Mavic immitations in the market! that's the reason i stayed away from Mavics since i don't know how to tell the real thing from the japeyks. caveat emptor. NOTE that the above are tough rims and would last a long time. just don't do drops more than 5 feet to be sure. oh, and if you want to save some weight, use double-butted DT Swiss spokes. you can try other brands but make sure they're double-butted and of the right length.

doc mag mavic 517 ka na lang, yun ang papalit ko sa 221 rims ko pag nagkapera ko tibay nga daw yun Mike, With your background I suggest go for stronger/heavier model like the F519, I fear the X517 is kinda flimsy for your kind of riding. 1. DT XR4.1 -- most expensive in this list, light, no immitations yet, rare (i.e. u don't see a lot of bikes with them on yet) As for this type of rims, here's a qoute from Mike Garcia, the owner of www.oddsandendos.com/ one of the recognized wheel builder; One consideration that might be of interest when comparing these rims is the availability of the DT-labeled version of the Eclipse tubeless kit for the XR4.1d. For folks that are considering a tubless conversion, it gives them a factory approved solution that has been tested for compatibility with that specific rim. DT has told me that the bead-hook section on the XR4.1d is also slightly more pronounced to enable it to better engage UST tires. (Of course, what true weight weenie would be running a UST tire???)
So it was allegedly designed with an eye toward it being able to operate as a tubeless rim. Of course, there are also lots of folks running the X317/XC717 Disc and the VXC as tubeless wheels. Still, I kind of like the idea of having a factory approved tubeless rim/kit combo. If you are using a Mavic or Velocity non-UST product with a tubeless kit, the rim manufacturer isn't going to be very supportive if you are having comptibility issues. They'll just tell you "Don't".

P2.6K na ang 517?!!! mag-DT ka na lang! tibay pare! or get the sun rhynolites. mas mura. tibay din!

the DTs are rated at 454 grams the 321's are 570 grams.. so mga 124 grams ang difference... i'm not sure if they have 32 holes.. i'm using the 36 whole ones.... took them out to amari today.... i rode them flat out (with 2.35 tires) and clocked at 38 kph for 15 minutes ;D maybe i'm imagining things but it seems lighter than my old ones... pero mukhang kakabitan ko na lang yun ng 1.95's para may pangtakbo ko ng road at di malaspag yung mga hi-rollers

Dont even try buying one in the US, this baby cost about $65 plus there.

Meron bang x321?

Pero merong mga naissue narims for OEM purposes like X223,X221 N, X221 S & X138 See this thread *LINK*

ey vt2 check this one out warlocks right... no X 321's but they have something called XM321's ... currently out of stock even at Newton their numbering is really getting confusing unfortunately i couldn't find a picture of the 321 D's but you could find a pair at either Newton (proj 8) or Ross (cartimar) gluck!
