Im planning of changing my standard rapid fire gear shifters into grip shifters. I saw a pair of shimano kasi in Quiapo last weekend uner 1T lang (8 speed shifter). It's a set with break levers na pero di ko alam if its worth it. Di pa ako nakasubok kasi nun. I want to know kung mas madalali ba yun gamitin vs. sa rapid fires. Any comments or suggestions?

My experience with shimano grip shifters was not good, I have a 6-speed shifter/brake module like you describe and a tach like gear indicators. Its prone to mishifts and dreaded chain drop...oh well maybe its only me because I have no idea how to tune the da*n thing. Sometimes I have to hold the shifter on some gears to relieve the grinding. Rapid Fire is better than this POS, this are commonly fitted on low budget bikes. Think about it.

yeah ive heard of shimanos grip shift product sucks i think the've develop those things for commuter bikes only
I have SRAM 7.0 grip shites, shifts pala hehehehe
Cons
Rubbers grips wear and tear are "standard" feature Could be expensive and hard to find for replacement. and you are lock with OEM products.
When landing on jumps, sometimes you shift the da*n thing accidentally
not much choice on models, i think only SRAM makes hi end models for grip shifts
You cant use grips with lockout on the inner end of the grips.
Again, less choice on grips
Pros
Shift all the way up, shift all the way down with just one twist! very useful on sudden uphill!
I think its easier to tune yer gearing with this.
If you cut your opposable thumb you can still shift hehehe
i think its lighter than rapids

Again, less choice on grips i think its lighter than rapids max, the shimano dual levers have a similar problem when braking...if not careful daw, depressing the lever can accidentally shift your gear. re the grips naman, you can find ODI lock-on grips for SRAM grip shifters at powerbikes... but if i was to go SRAM, i'd use their impulse triggers i like to shift my hand placement on my grips. on my present shimano trigger shifts, i can use my thumbs for shifting up or down on those triggers
