just upgraded my old rigida rims with the sun single track rim over a month ago. thought i'd share some info
What is the Single track? A welded, triple -hollow construction rim designed for free riding, slalom, 4cross and AXC. Available in 32 and 36 holes, weighs at 540/590gm. Its also an OEM for some DH and free ride bikes like the Giant DH Comp, Haro extreme, specialized big hit
In many net reviews the main complaint about the rim is that it's not built for heavier riders (180lbs +) but since i weigh below 140 it's sweet!
PROS: Looks and feels strong and sturdy (can immediately feel the difference from my last rim when i do drops and sh*t) Nice welds/finish Reasonably priced (1.4-1.6k for a single rim..cheaper if you haggle) Relatively light (feels just a shade heavier than my Mavic 221s)
CONS: its so da*n colorful with all the decals! (there are three pairs of decals in the entire rim)why can't it be more stealthy?! No perceived weakness yet
BOTTOMLINE: LBS guys claim its one of the better/best upper mid range rims for trailing, freeriding and jumping. i've also seen some downhillers use the rim (but the mammoth and double track is more suited of course for this) am quite happy with it...except for the too much color!
