This is an OK bike if you want to start small. When I read the reviews on MTBR.com, Jamis's entry level bikes always get good reviews but almost everyone says that the components are not so good.
The bike components are good brand like Shimano (Acera) so it can't be that bad. The X 1.5 has a 7-speed rear cog set while the X 3.0 has an 8-speed. The X 3.0 is about 14k if I am not mistaken.
Bottom line, I would recommend the Jamis Trail X 1.5 to any "entry level bikers" who has a tight budget. Hope this helps....
